Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD

This morning ( 9/15) the New York Post on Page 107 ran a picture of Bucky Dent hitting his home run. In the upper left you see a fan wearing a red hat looking foward to getting out of the inning with Boston still holding a 2-0 lead. How naive.

The fan is ME!!!!

Oh my gosh, Nuf, really?! I'm going to have to check out the Post now!

Damn gossip mag trying to pretend it's a newspaper bringing back bad memories ...

That's a Forrest Gump story (Fenway Version), the only difference is that day was no box of chocolates.

That hat was thrown into the Charles River around 1 AM after a very long night of drinking at the old Newbury Steak House as I swore off the Red Sox forever. Screaming "They will never top this" ( who knew? ) I was finished with them.

And I indeed all that winter told my then girlfriend I was finished with baseball.

The following March we were in Tampa and going to Disney World. Driving down I-4 my hands started to shake when I saw the following sign

AUBURNDALE
WINTER HAVEN
Next Exit

The shaking got worse and just before we passed the exit my gf deadpanned, they playing the White Sox at 1 I bought the tickets 2 months ago...

An hour later I had a new hat biggrin.gif bosox.gif

Forget the Babe's piano! THIS is the drowned item that RSN needs to resurrect from its watery grave in order to break the Curse! Quick-who here can get to the Charles today?
