BOSTON -- The Red Sox have sold out their entire 81-game home schedule for the first time in franchise history.

Mods - move if needed, I didn't see this anywhere else

This is lame. A friend and I had been planning to stand in line for day of game tickets in the Yankee series.

The policy is (or was) that the Sox will always hold a minimum of 500 tickets for day of game sales and you're allowed to lineup 5 hours before 1st pitch, but no earlier.

If they were going to change their policy, which they did, they should have at least sent out an e-mail to fans on their e-mail list so that we would have had a chance to buy the soon-to-be released tickets on-line. Instead, you just had to be lucky enough to see them get released randomly on-line last night.

I think the die-hard fans got screwed so they could put out a press release that would please their stockholders.

Already have a thread on this ...

Love of Sox
Selling out a tiny cramped ballpark while as impressive as it may seem doesn't impress me that much especially since countless people are priced out of the ballpark by speculators.

I am sure that they will still be holding some SRO. A game is considered a sellout once all of the seats are sold. That does not include standing room, which you can usually buy on the day of the game.

Yeah, normally they do hold the SRO aside and sell them day of. But according to published reports - they claim to have sold ALL tickets - obstructed view, SRO, etc.

I was planning on doing what Wincheck was going to do - stand in line day of. I assume they figured everyone who didn't have tickets would do this, so they sold them now to avoid the mayhem.

An email would have been nice though. Esp. because it sounds like they put everything on sale en masse yesterday afternoon. I'm pretty ticked off about this. I would have at least tried if I had known.

I would call the Sox ticket office and check on standing room. I know that this year they have sold standing room tickets online, but I still would think they would save some for day of game.

This is the number to call:
