Rumor alert!!!
I was reading over at NYYFans.com, a loathsome hellhole, and one of their posters said he heard on EEI this morning that Pedro has the flu. Anyone hear this or have info?

This is not documented, so please don't attack the rumor messenger. enraged.gif

I saw the same thing, but I have not yet seen any link or real proof, hopefully it is nothing more than a rumor. Tonight is a must win game, we can not go home down 2-0. We need a healthy, motivated Pedro.
Manny's ps2
I hope this thread, my own, is garbage worthy and that this is wishful thinking by an MFY fan...If nobody heard it on EEI today other than some jackass MFY fan, it must be BS.
GreenBud
This rumor was drifting around during the game last night. I haven't heard anything else about it. Hopefully a rumor is all it is.
CTYankeefan
I actually heard this in the game thread here last night.

Here is an article about Pedro preparing for tonight's game, with no mention of any flu/illness.
ghost of grady
Also, Francona was just on EEI and didn't mention anything.
Ralpho316
I will never count this team out but I can honestly say....If Pedro wins tonight then we are in control of this series, if we lose then maybe we arent gonna win the series. I am nervous. I hope Schilling is alrite whenever he pitches again.

If it's such a 'loathsome hellhole' then why do you visit that site?
DaLew's glove
Pedro looked just fine when he was shown in the dugout last night. I've also heard nothing about this, and would hope that there's nothing to it. To be fair though, Francona (and the Red Sox in general) would probably try and put a lid on this story even if it was true, so the fact that there hasn't been anything much said about it may not mean all that much.

In any case, Pedro has to come up big tonight. Losing two games with him and Schill won't be the end of the world, but the Yanks would no doubt be in the driver's seat if that were to happen.

Well we all know how good Tito is about things like this so if he said notghing than im sure pedro has a 101 degree temp right about now
It was Tito who told us how Schills anke was not an issue also prior to the game lol
Ralpho316
I dont think him having the flu is going to stop him from doing what he does best, Pedros a warrior. Lets just hope he can fight off the toilet demons

Several days ago, everyone was asking for Arroyo tonight, and Petey on Friday. That is what would happen if Pedro is sick. Arroyo is on normal rest today.
Sane Yankee Fan
A lot of pitchers have had masterpieces while sick, especially in the postseason.

Well, Hench has a link to NYYFans.com for a reason. He could have easily had a link to, say, the YESNetwork.com forums, but...
SidFernandez50
Sure sounds like a silly rumor to me. BUT, am I the only person out there who couldn't understand why Derek Lowe wasn't warming up once it became apparent that Schill was hurt? I think the rumor is just that, but it's a little scary to think that maybe they didn't tap Lowe because they needed him for a spot start today? I mean, say what you want about Lowe, but he is durable and seems to be a better choice then Don't-Panic-Leskanic to take the mound after Schilling.

I agree. Not the end of the world at all, especially given Arroyo's road numbers.

A rumor is a rumor is a rumor. Let's just see if it's a false rumor or an excuse.
RoxburyRedSox
The only thing Pedro is sick from is the contant questions and so forth bout the stupid "Daddy" comments.

The legacy of the midget continues tonight (cue Lord of the Rings music).

By the way, I just heard on the FAN that Jeter and AROD have come down with genital herpes.

It may be just a rumor though.
Sane Yankee Fan
Another gay reference about Jeter and A-Rod from a Sox fan. That's new. eyes.gif
fenwayfreak
That was a gay reference? I heard they got the herpes from the same massage therapist. You know, like Brown and Giambi both got those parasites from Japan...lighten up.

It's not a gay reference - they are rich superstars and sleep around probably with very very attractive women. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

I've seen the T-shirts by Sox fans. Wanna try again?
fenwayfreak
T-shirt? I hate to have to do this, but I think GoNM was making light of the Pedro has the flu rumors by exaggerating another ailment for players on the opposing team. It's called irony. Now, if GoNM had said, I hear that Jeter and ARod are having a gay relationship with each other that has resulted in genital herpes because I read it on a T-shirt, then you may have a point.

Yes that is exactly what I was doing. My ridiculous "rumor," was meant to point out how inane it is to put any stock in a rumor that can not be substantiated.

I'm sorry if you didn't grasp that Sane Yankee Fan. I didn't realize the issue of gay sex between ARod and Jeter was such a sensitive one for you.

Did someone just take GONM seriously ? Oh my GOD ! Welcome to RSN 101

Just curious...has there been any further word on this, or have we concluded that it's just a bs rumor?

I would also be fine with Arroyo tonight and Pedro on friday. What I'd be worried about though is Pedro going tonight at much less than 100% (like Schill last night). That's why I'm wondering whether this story had any truth to it...

I guess the rumors were untrue, once again Stearns is shown to be an asswipe.
