Both Juan Cedeno and Hanley Ramirez are playing in the Dominican League this winter and I'd like to keep up with updating them, but I can't find any websites that have stats. Can anyone help me?

Here's the Licey Tigers stat page. Hanley only has 4 hits (18 AB), two of which were HRs. Cedano has given up 4 ER in just 3.1 IP.

I think it says on the main page that Hanley now has 3 HRs, but the translations were rough when I was looking for the stats (as well as the site being incredibly slow). Thanks for the link though, I really appreciate it.

Here's a quick update on the two Red Sox prospects playing for Licey (through 11/4/04):

Hanley Ramirez -- .268/.302/.537/.839 - 2 2B, 3 HR, 8 RBI, 2 BB, 3 SB

Juan Cedano -- 0-1, 7.71 ERA, .400 OBA, 4.2 IP, 5 K, 5 BB

Kelly Shoppach made his debut for Escogido of the Dominican Winter League yesterday and went 0-for-4 with an RBI.
The Red Sox had thought Shoppach would be ready in 2005 if they lost Jason Varitek, but it currently appears that he'll need to spend another season in Triple-A. If Varitek is re-signed, Shoppach would be viewed as trade bait. Nov. 10 - 3:13 pm et

Kelly Shoppach - C - Red Sox
After starting off 2-for-20 with 12 strikeouts, Kelly Shoppach went 2-for-3 yesterday for Escogido of the Domincian Winter League.
That's a little better. Because he struggled in his first year in Triple-A, Shoppach isn't viewed as a candidate to replace Jason Varitek as Boston's catcher next season. Nov. 17 - 4:03 pm et

Anastacio Martinez, Luis Martinez, Esteban Yan and Agustin Montero combined on a shutout for Estrellas of the Dominican Winter League yesterday.
If Hanley Ramirez (0-for-3) had to have a bad day for Licey, the Red Sox have to be happy it came against one of their own. Martinez struck out five in his four innings. A reliever for Boston, he has a 4.18 ERA and 27 strikeouts in 28 innings as a starter for Estrellas. Nov. 25 - 4:14 pm et

Update time...

Seems as though Hanley hasn't played much as of late. I heard he has some minor back problem that isn't going to affect him in the long term, but it is keeping him sidelined for the time being. Anyway, here are his stats as of late...

And here's an update on Juan Cedeno, who hasn't given up an ER in his last seven innings...

Does anyone know if Luis Soto is playing winter ball this offseason? If so, what are his stats?

No updates on Hanley, with Deivi Cruz and Cristian Guzman now on Licey, Hanley's playing time has dropped considerably. Since my last update, Hanley has had 6 AB's. The same goes for Cedeno, who has pitched 2.1 innings since the last update. This certainly isn't anything out of the norm for these guys, Hanley struggled to get some serious PT last season as well. If you look at the number of guys that this team is carrying and some of the names, you'll understand why playing time is so hard to come by.

However, it should be noted that only three players have had more AB's than Hanley.

FYI, an article in the SF Chronicle equating the rivalry between Licey and Aguilas to the Red Sox/Yankees.

A blurb about Hanley's season in the Dominican...

Ramirez had planned on raising his stock playing for Licey in the Domincan’s Winter League (held from early November through late December), but he suffered a lower back injury. Playing in 28 of 50-plus games on the schedule, he closed with a .257 average (in 109 at-bats), five home runs and 16 RBI while chipping in four stolen bags.

Defensively, however, he was superb -- zero errors.

I was down in the Dominican Republic for the Dominican World Series this past weekend ... I'm actually in the process of writing up an indepth post about it and also about how the Sox hat I wore most of the time I was there made me more friends than I can even tell you, but just as an update real quick, Aguilas won the series after Licey lost the first three games, won the next three and then lost the last game. Our taxi driver that night was a Licey fan, and let me tell you he sounded an awful lot like a Sox fan even in the broken English. Talking about how proud he was they made it that far and how next year they'd win it. Sound familiar to anyone? smile.gif

Very much looking forward to that write-up, SFinNYC.

I wonder how much it's going to hurt our Dominican relations, having lost Pedro this year. Manny and Papi are still around, but I think I remember reading an article saying Pedro did so much there he was god-like down there.

Also, any word on how the Sox academy is doing down there is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
