Does anyone know of a good place to get 2004 playoff DVD's of actual games? I checked Ebay but they are going for $20 per game and $80 or so for a full series.

Are these DVD's of highlights, or the games in their entirety?

Man, just download them from MLB.com. The quality is fine. Then run it through a video editing program (say Adobe Premiur or something) convert them to NTSC standard, run some filters to clean it up if need be. track them as you like, and burn them yourself to DVD or have a friend with a burner do it.

what do i look like? friggin Dreamworks? laugh.gif

i don't know anything about filtering and cleaning up video files...thanks for the suggestion, though

You can't run em through premier... their lcoked with DRM. I am tring to ... circumvent... it now, but I dunno if it's gonna happen

In the same vein, does anybody have or know where I can get a .wav file of Castig's call of the final out of the World Series?

Just record it off of here

Just keep checking Ebay until the demand dies down. I put in a bid for the whole series plus Game 7 of the ALCS for 40$. These puppies are going to be reproduced like hotcakes, just wait a bit.

I'd like to get previous series on DVD, too.

The local NYC news played some experts of the '86 series last night and the chants of "Darrrrrrrryl" coming out of the right field bleachers were just deafening.

Being 8 years old at the time, it was the first World Series I was ever allowed to stay up for, and I haven't seen any of the games (apart from one segment of Game 6, repeated OVER and OVER) since that time.

'75 series would be cool too.

I was just about to make a thread like this. Ebay looks like the road I am gonna have to take.

If someone does buy one of these, please post the person or ebay store you purchased it from and the quality of the DVD. Thanks.

Rumor has it that NESN will be showing all of the playoff games sometime after the holidays. Fire up those DVR's!

i just purchased the Digital Download(via MLB.com) of Game 4 of the ALCS, and the damn thing doesn't work...has anyone else had any problems with the service?

You have to wait about a day. There is a toll-free number to call somewhere on the website if you need to.

I need to own all 14 games in their entirety on DVD.....and I wouldn't mind having the July 24th game, as well. If anybody gets a set I would definitely be willing to pay for copies.

Not yet, but I may have a way. I have ALDS game 3, ALCS game 7, and all four WS games on TiVO. There is a "Save to VCR" feature on TiVO. As soon as I have a free weekend (December), I plan to rent a DVD Recorder and save the games to DVD. I'll let people know if it works and if it's feasible to make copies available for other users.

I sure wish I had TIVO'd the games. I didn't because I presumed I could download them off MLB's site and then burn them. I presumed wrong because I forgot MLB (and Microsoft) were pricks. enraged.gif

I will probably eventually buy the games I want off EBay, unless another source arrives before then (NESN, Classic ESPN....hint...hint...).

If somebody has a TV out on their video card, they would be able to put it onto whatever they have a recorder for. They are kind of expensive, but they are standard on some computers.

What you need, dude, is an AdsTech Instant DVD capture device (I mentioned this in some other thread). They're less than $100 and you can connect it directly to your TIVO or VCR and then burn it to DVD/CD etc. They're great and very affordable now.
Mr Bing 113
By any chance, did anyone record Sportscenter, and/or Baseball Tonight, and/or local news coverage the night of/day after game 4 of the WS? I usually record all that stuff -- its fun to go through it after the fact - but this time around I was so extatic, I couldn't even think properly to operate a VCR to record em!!! ... there were some great montages with music, one in particular with Tom Petty's "The Waiting is the Hardest Part" cut with post season clips ... I think it was SportsCenter ...

Anywho, if anyone has this sort of stuff recorded, I'll glady throw some cash your way if you could dub me a copy...

Also looking for Game 4 in it's entireity...

Thanks...

GreenBud, I looked into this, and there is a software component that requires a computer with a certain amount of RAM and hard drive space and video card and DVD burner. So I don't think you can just plug the AdsTech thingie into the Tivo and burn away ... am I wrong?

I was thinking about going for the DVD Player/Recorder unit myself. Just hook it up to my Tivo, and burn away. Has anyone done this?

I do it and it works great. I have two outs on the back of my TIVO and use one of them directly into the capture device and then into my PC.

As for the specs of the computer i'm not totally sure what the device requires. But my old computer which I recently replaced with a Rolls Royce worked fine with the capture device and a VCR (I didnt realize I could run it into the TIVO at the time) and it was five years old powerful.

I'm sure it would work for you. Damn, if it doesn't just take it back. The only problem I had was finding A/V wires that would reach my TV.

I kept SportsCenter from the next day too. I have very little space left on the TiVO, but I have all the clinchers plus WS game 1-3. At least once a day I go replay Buck's call in my .sig.

I'm looking into that AdsTech Instant DVD capture device, and I do have a DVD burner on my computer, but if you look at the reviews the thing got on Amazon, it ain't too flattering.

I do the BitTorrent thing, however I don't have the video files of the games, so I can't help out really. But if somebody else does I would gladly partake in the BitTorrently goodness.

I was fortunate enough to be at Game 4 in St. Louis when they clinched, so I could not tape Sportscenter stuff. Does anyone have a copy of the 6:00 sportscenter from OCt 27th before the Game. A friend said my father and I were pictured in the opening shots with our tickets. I would like to get a copy for my father and I. I would pay for the DVD or VHS copy. thanks

I'd also like to get my hands on it as it was a great piece! I cranked it every time it came on. They played it for like 3 days afterward, but i was too caught up in the joy of it all to tape the darn thing. There is just so much out there to be had, which is why i suggested BitTorrent.

Here is a FAQ

First you will need to download a BitTorrent application in order to download the torrents.

BitTorrent Software
- BitTornado (The best client IMO)

If you wish to create your own torrent files, you will need to download the MakeTorrent 2.1 application. It's not very hard to use at all.

We'll need to find a server to host the tracker. If you have any questions feel free to ask. It may seem overwhelming, but it's not.

Where did you acquire these DVDs? E-Bay? And, if you don't mind, how much did it come to?
RedSoxOrBust
Everyone is waiting with baited breath on this. Where can these DVDs can be obtained? We're all frothing at the mouth to get them, please share your source with RSN.

If I can get my hands on them all I can and am more than happy to copy for some people and that list of people can copy for more people and so on and so on and so on...

Then everyone can relive the BIGGEST COLLAPSE in baseball history and the biggest joy Red Sox Nation has received in a long long time. I'm not using numbers on purpose here.

Well, it depends on the kind of file that it is. In order to burn a .mov file you first have to convert it to MPEG or AVI (warning, this is lossy) and such. Most of the BT filesharing i have been doing is VOB files. You take a movie/concert(whatever) and rip the files into VOB form using DVD Decrypter. Then, assuming the files are under 4.7 gig (if not, you need DVD Shrink), i use Nero to drag all the files into the video folder and burn away.

In order to create your own torrent, rip the files using Decrypter, then use MakeTorrent 2.1 to hash the files for sharing. You also have to enter a server tracker in the process so you don't want to hash the files until you have a dedicated server to use for sharing the torrent.

Hope that helps. Always glad to lend a hand.

Anyone found any of the Red Sox DVDs in any stores on the left coast? I am interested in the "Faith Rewarded" DVD but wonder if they are distributing them in the west. I've got one in the cart at Amazon for the decent price of $13.99, but Amazon says it will not be released till December 14, 2004.

I found a site to host torrents for those wishing to share some playoff games. rslogosmall.gif

Looks like someone is seeding the soxReel clip there.

At the risk of being repetitive, and because i'd really like to find it, was anyone able to record the Tom Petty clip that was run on ESPN?

That's great. While i totally understand your apprehension, as long as you don't try and make profit from it you are fine. It's when you illegally reproduce and sell (such as on e-bay) that Johnny gets upset, and i can't blame him there. There is nothing wrong with sharing something you recorded on your own. I would never download something such as the WS DVD or Faith Rewarded and such. THAT is just plain wrong. Anyhoo, PM me if you get a chance. rslogosmall.gif

I got em on Ebay. Totally worth the $$.

The best part? Chris Myer's sideline remark in Game 4:

"I've noticed, Joe, the Yankee players, standing up in the dugout high-fiving everything after all the at bats. The Red Sox are taking their swings and heading down into the tunnel. I guess that's the difference between up 3-0 and down... maybe the difference between being a Red Sox, and a Yankee."

Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

Aw man how great is that. I'm still looking for the games on DVD. I'm probably going to have to wait until after X-Mas, because ALL my available cash is being sucked up by that.
