Full Version: Sox vs DBacks
Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD

Would any of you Southwest and West Coast Rooters be interested in getting together for a Sox vs DBacks ST game on either 3/31 or 4/1 at the BOB? If we can get 30 people who want to go we can get tickets through group sales or if we can't get that many just try to buy a block of seats together.

It would be a nice send off for the 2004 World Champions on their quest to repeat.

Yes. Planning to make the trip from L.A. for one or both games.

Especially since getting up at 5:30 am and spending my morning in the "virtual waiting room" got me about as close to being able to purchase opening day tickets for Fenway as sleeping in would have.

If I'm not mistaken, tickets go on sale for the two Sox/D'backs games at the same time as all the other Diamondbacks Spring Training tickets...this Saturday at noon MT (that's 2pm in the home of the World Series Champions).

My wife already asked for the time off, and me, well, I'd quit my job if that's all that was standing between me and the Sox. (That's what I should have done back in October instead of watching the Sox win on a TV at LAX and getting to Boston one day too late)

So unless I get screwed out of these tickets, like I got screwed out of opening day tickets (despite getting up at like 4:30am to get in the online queue), then I'll be making the trip from L.A.

Anyone else planning on going? Anyone for a beer at Alice Cooper'stown?

According to the recorded message at the DBacks box office, the tix for the 2 Sox ST games will not be on sale until Sat. February 26 (the same day regular season tix go on sale). sad.gif

So who wants to get together for this? Do we want to get some seats together or just meet for a pre-game beer or 2?

So far it looks like only a few of us compared to the large group that SoSH is assembling.

Just a reminder, tickets go on sale this Saturday at 11am FST for the defending world champs vs the DBacks.

Ok, what the hell?

Diamondbacks spring training tickets are for sale. Diamondbacks single game tickets are now for sale.

And the two Red Sox exhibition games STILL HAVE NO LINK to buy tickets.

Does anyone know when these things really go on sale? I'm tired of waking up early on the weekend to buy Sox tickets, only to find that I can't.

Just got back from the BOB.

Arrived at 7:30 got a wristband, #91, and waited until 8:45 for them to call the first number which was 129. banghead.gif So much for getting there early, fortunately they only had 216 wristbands so I wasn't too far back.

Not much left for good seats so I had to settle for sec 111 row 35. At least I was lucky enough to get them considering the phone lines were jammed and it appears they aren't being sold online.

I figured it out, eventually. I'm an idiot, and so are they. When I clicked on the regular "tickets" link, all the regular season games had the little "T' where you click to buy tix, as did the ST games. Just not the Sox games. (Although it appears that they've fixed that)

But when I clicked on the Spring Training link, and then "buy Spring Training tickets," the Sox games were available.

Of course, at that point the good seats were gone. I could have done section 111, like row 42 or something. I wish I'd checked back here while I was going through all the different ticket options. I wasn't liking that one as much, but I would have gone for it if I knew another Rooter would be a few rows away.

I'm on the other side of the park, instead. Section 132, row 39. Not a whole lot better, but it's one section closer to the plate. I won't be on the Sox side for BP, but at least I'll have the view of the Sox dugout for the whole game. Too bad Petey's a Met. His dugout antics were always fun to watch.

Go West, young men: The Red Sox posted the list of players who will travel to Arizona for the exhibition games against the Diamondbacks on March 31 and April 1. Bronson Arroyo and Wakefield will start the two games. Closer Keith Foulke and third baseman Bill Mueller (both Arizona residents) will make the trip as well. Others on the list are catcher Doug Mirabelli, second baseman Mark Bellhorn, designated hitter David Ortiz and right fielder Trot Nixon.

Some of the squad will stay in Florida for a Thursday exhibition against the Twins, including Jason Varitek, Kevin Millar, Edgar Renteria, Manny Ramirez and Johnny Damon.

Ok, so who else is going to Friday's game? Anyone? Or am I on my own?

I am so ready to start this thing. Being outside, during the day, on a weekday, watching baseball...yeah, I'll probably get burned to a crisp, but still, that's about as good as it gets.

Off Wakefield's performance today against the DBacks,
assuming he wasn't injured, I wonder if the Sox are having
second thoughts about him starting in NY next week.
I'd rather see Halama starting.
Wake can take you out of a game in a flash if he isn't right.
