Full Version: Who's the MVP?
Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > AROUND THE MAJORS > That team 206.4 miles away

I was just looking at the stats from playoff series the Yanks have been in since 1996 and came upon something I think is a tough call. I am not gonna name the two players (nor which of them won the award), just their hitting numbers. Both had equal defensive abilities and played to their level during the series as far as I can see so I don't think that would have been taken into consideration. Question is who would you give the MVP award to and why....

Player #1

19 AB's, .474 average, 9 hits, 2 doubles, 2 triples, 0 HR's, 2 RBI's, 2 runs scored, 3 Walks, 4 K's, .545 OBP, and a .789 slugging percentage.

Player #2

22 AB's, .409 average, 9 hits, 2 doubles, 1 triples, 2 HR's, 2 RBI's, 6 runs scored, 3 Walks, 8 K's, .480 OBP, and a .864 slugging percentage.

I'm clueless.

Paul O'Neil and Jeter in the 2000 WS. Jeter's #1, O'Neil's #2, and Jeter won the MVP.

Here's a link.

On a sidenote, I don't do guessing games.

Based purely on the stats (what else could we do?) I'd go with Player #2, simply because he (she?) scored more runs. Overall the stats are very similar and without knowing when the hits came it's hard to say which would be more valuable.
