I'm just amazed at how little play Lowe is getting out in the hot stove. It's almost as if he's a non-entity. Can anyone think of any comparable situation where a player has come up as big as he did in the postseason yet fail to garner any amount of buzz in the offseason immediately following that success?
I'm not advocating signing Lowe. I'm just little intriqued by this situation, and in what ways it has been repeated in the past.

While I can't offer any historical perspective, I can see why the situation is what it is. Lowe's regular season performance has been so shaky the last 2 years that its been his teammates who have carried him to the playoffs. He wants to be paid like a front of the rotation starter, but he doesnt seem to have the stuff to get a team to the postseason.
He might be a playoff stud, but he'd need to join a team that was already stacked in order to get there and make a difference.

Yeah, but we've seen GM's take complete headers and be blown away by surges like these in the past.

UUU? he definitely wasn't as huge as Lowe in the playoffs, but he was a significant part of the Marlins winning it all
on second thought...he was pretty visible on the hot stove, it just took him forever to sign somewhere

I think it has everything to do with Scott Boras. People know that Lowe turned down $27m over 3 years during spring training. Does anyone think that any team is interested in offering him that much? Does anyone think that Boras will listen to anyone who doesn't start with an offer that's at least that big?

don'r really remember their contract situations but sterling Hitchcock was a stud in 1998 and ended up back witht the yankees. another one i thought of was Chad Ogea, dont know his story either.
Had to bring up Hitchcock, same first name as me.

They were young at the time and not nearing free agency, but Jaret Wright and Livan Hernandez were post season heroes 7 YEARS AGO (wow) and for years and years could not come close to replicating that performance.

livan was pretty clutch, i couldn't remember his contract situation after that series. seems like alot of pitchers made a name for themselves that year, ogea, nagy, hernandez, wright.
