Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD

ESPN 100 is on right now. ESPN ranks the most important people, places, events, achievements and trends in sports over the past 12 months.

Anyone think to bet against the Sox as 1 story of the year. I hope the A-Rod V-Tek fight shows up around 66.

Crap the D-backs crap season made it to 87 - the Sox should make it atleast 10 times.

yep...Sox got #1

man, i will NEVER get sick of watching the highlights of us beating the Yanks and winning the WS!
PokeyforPres2004
i just sat through all 100, waiting patiently and knowing we were #1. it never gets old

It's not just the number 1 story of 2004, it's the number 1 story of this generation.........

I would have to agree with that sentiment. Watching the Yankees with dejected looks on their faces is PRICELESS.

the whole 2004 ALCS was #1 for the ESPN Top 10 Games of the year

once again, I will never get sick of seeing those highlights!

I Tivo'd this last night, and then blew through it in about 20 minutes. Some of the moments were good, but I am just put off by all the glitz and super-freaky, epilepsy-inciting graphics intros. I mean, discuss the stuff, but don't give me a 20-second "Num-NUM-num-NUm-NuM-Num-Number 77!" with about 45 quarter-second images flashing up there. God.

I stopped and watched about 10 of the moments to see what the blathering idiots (Mike Francesca, Woody Paige, etc.) had to say. But it was great to see those highlights again, for sure.

Whoa! So I'm not the only one who's grown tiresome of SportsCenter? (and the whole ESPN-The-Magazine-Self-Serving-Mentality). Where's Todd Donohoe?

Also, tt absolutely must KILL the Yankee lovers in Bristol to continually pay homage to the Sox.

No way, man. I am right with you, and there are many others. I am not looking for straight journalism from ESPN, but it is WAY WAY WAY over the top now. ESPN The Magazine is just a paper extension of it.

You can count the number of shows that have just been made unwatchable. NFL Countdown. Sportscenter. Take your pick of any of the new shows (ESPY's, stupid VH-1-type countdown shows, Dream Job, ESPN Original Movies, etc. ad nauseum) and they're all garbage. And Stuart Scott should be flipping burgers somewhere. Anything so I don't have to listen to his tired street talk.

One of the few shows I find watchable is NFL Matchup with Wingo, Jaworski, and Hoge. I always learn something new from Jaws when he breaks down game film

I'm somewhat dreading BBTN this coming season given ESPN's recent track record. Gammons being surrounded by neon set monstrosities is distasteful.

i have to agree with all of you...ESPN sucks, but there is really no close substitute for my daily sports fix on tv

i gotta say i do enjoy the ESPN News. they have breaking stuff and just talk to the experts on what is going on. Gammons and the others good guys are on their alot too. i leave it on all day.

BBTN is something I can only take in small increments. Too much of it makes me wanna puke. Gammons is great, but guys like Kruk and Harold Reynolds make me reach for the remote and hope that the NESN postgame show has Eck or Tewks on(say what you want about Tewks, he's a big time dork but he can be pretty informative). Though one of my favorite moments from the postseason was after teh Red Sox won the ALCS and Millar goes on Fox and yells "Nobody believed we could do it, Harold Reynolds, but we did it!!!" or when Kapler said to Gammo "Everybody knows you're a Sox fan, so com'on and celebrate with us!"

I hope they get some better guys in there for BBTN. Too bad Eck didn't get hired. weep.gif

BTW, anybody have the list for the ESPN's 100 Biggest Sports Stories

I taped all the games to my computer in AVI format, I think ill go through Game 7 and pick out some good still shots from the crowd wink.gif. I could watch those games over and over again.
