Since we instituted a 50-post minimum before someone can start a thread, and at the suggestion of some new members who wanted to introduce themselves, I thought it would be nice to have a place for new members to introduce themselves. This is that place.
Here's a
link to our board guidelines, which should have been sent to you when you registered.
We encourage spirited, intelligent debate on all topics, baseball and otherwise. Personal attacks will not be tolerated unless accompanied by large sums of unmarked U.S. currency left near the back stairs of MALC's house.
Welcome to the board!

Welcome newcomers! Tell us a little about yourselves. Where are you from, where do you live now, how long have you been a Red Sox fan and maybe an interesting anecdote about your devotion to the Olde Towne Team!

Welcome newbies! I'm Pine Tar Helmet, who is also known as PTH, Piney, Pine Tar, and whatever other inventive stuff you can come up with. We're all mainly friendly here, unless if you act like a total jerkass or act like a dumbass. Just be courteous and try to not be annoying. I'm usually found in the Saloon if I'm posting, unless if I feel like I have an opinion.
Enjoy your stay!

Welcome newbies! A few thoughts to help make your experience more enjoyable:
- Friday is "HardCoreJimmy's latest poll about food" day.
- "Kruk's Other Nut" is the king of the eyecandy thread.
- If you pony up to become a Rooters Supporter, you gain access to the vaunted clubhouse (it's where all the cool kids hang out).
- DCA is a pervert, so isn't Ghost of Ned Martin (okay, there's a lot of pervs in here).
- PineTarHelment OWNS the "What Annoys You" thread
- Don't get on Caspir's bad side - he'll get all gangsta on you

Welcome to all newbies. Don't be afraid to have a different opinion, just try to back it up. Oh and duplicate threads, they will happen. Don't get discouraged if someone who has more posts than you tries to boss you around. More posts really mean crap. Just because someone has more posts doesn't mean they are better, it just means they are addicted to this site and need help.
I'm 22 and I live in the Boston area. Pedro is my favorite player, so if you ever look at some old Pedro threads you will most certainly find my posts in there. I first joined the board in Dec. of '03 and yes I'm addicted to this board.

I'm originally from the South Shore of Nova Scotia - we could only get Yankees and Red Sox games on the radio & T.V - as for elsewhere - most of eastern Canadian baseball fans, (P.E.I, N.B. etc) from those I've spoken with, are either Toronto fans or Sawks fans.

I'm kind of oldish-newish. I got to join the board at the beginning of the season, after I was directed here from NYYfans.com - who booted me anyway, completely their loss.
I grew up on the East End of Long Island (North Shore) where as a kid we got the Sox on channel 8 and then channel 3 outta New Haven. I am the first huge Sox fan in my family, my parents were both Dodgers fans and eventually Mets fans. However it was my grandfather who instilled my hate for the MFYs. I can still hear him in the early 70's as Steinbrenner started buying the A's and making they all MFYs, he would watch the screen and repeat "Bought team, the whole team is a bought team."
I can remember Rick Burleson's bottle bat, 75, 77 (BFD was one of the most tramatic episodes of my life), 78, the lean years, Yaz retiring while we were camping in Rhode Island as we did most summers, 86 (my MFY fan roommate cursing the series as he rooted for the Sox to beat the Mets), lying in a hospital bed overseas, with the newspapers coming a day late describing our horrible collapse against the A's in 90, the rebirth of the dream when Nomar came up, watching the Seton Hall boys shut the my MFY fan cousins up, watching Clemens succumb to the dark side, seeing Mo go, being at the Pedro Clemens Nixon game at the stadium, meeting Manny, Derek, and Nomo at the stadium, and helping some kids get autographs because D-Lowe was impressed that Nomo understood my Japanese, wanting to scream at my mom because she and #9 shared the same doctor and she forgot to get a signed ball before he passed, converting my students in the Bronx to the Sox, and my recent convert girlfriend drinking champange outside of The Riviera as we celebrated victory over the MFYs and again about a week later, as I told her "I am not sure how to feel, the world just changed from everything I ever knew".
If you're ever in NYC, look me up, I'm the tall guy most likely wearing red socks given to me by my students.

Hello everyone! I'm a 49 year old (Male) "Die-Hard" Cardinal Fan from Mid-Central Illinois. I have followed Cardinal Baseball, and Baseball in general, ever since I can remember. Some of you may recognize me from CardsClubHouse (I Moderate and do the Game Threads), in which alot of you came over and visited during the '04 WS. Congrats btw :]
I've really only belonged to two Baseball Boards over the years, the one I mentioned above and the other is called FanHome, which I no longer participate in. I heard via CCH that your guys' Board was pretty cool so I wanted to check it out for myself. As I will honestly admit it is rather different from what I'm use to, but I see that there's alot of good Baseball discussions here, something I'm very much interested in.
Also, I do not know much when it comes to the History of the Redsox, but from what I can tell thusfar you guys are a class act. Well my apologies for dragging this out, as sometimes I find myself rambling on about nothing lol. Anyways, I come in peace and good luck with the Up & Coming Season :]

35 years old from Niagara Falls NY. Mostly read what's posted but will chime in once in a while. Sox fan since birth. My dad was from Northampton and moved to this area in the early 60's. It's like Manhattan JR with all the yankee fans around here. It's a great, great time right now.
As you can tell by my user name, I am a huge Steeler fan. I'm a Bruins and Celts fan, but my dad wasn't a big football fan. So hitched on to the Steeler bandwagon in the 70's and never left. Love to see a Pats - Steelers game for the marbles. Hopefully get a little revenge from 3 years ago.
Should be there opening day....saving the pennies!!

I think I'm the only person on this site that pays homage to the former great Red Sox first baseman. Been watching the Sox since the early 90's. Came to this site after finding out that SOSH was invite only. Some great conversation on here, also alot of mud slinging about some pretty insignificant bullshit. Overall a great site. Oh yeah I'm 23 and live in a small cowtown in MA. I hate player worshiping (especially those that don't deserve it) and think that Tito has not gotten enough respect from Red Sox Nation.

Most people are quite nice here, and it this board seemed more welcoming than that other one, you know the one that doesn't like "non-members" posting or anything. Facists they are

well I live in Vermont, to my knowledge I am the only person representing the lovely Green Mountain State here. I am mostly posting in the Around the Majors fourm because I like talking about baseball in general. I also post in the Sports Bar frequently, you can read about my grand ol' time at the Capital One Bowl there and when march madness comes, you know I'll be in there tellin the nation about Taylor Coppenrath and the University of Vermont basketball team.
