Getting a little work in before the regular season....

Hey Wells, don't suck. We're all a little concerned with the former Yankee-dom so, please shut us up and show us that you're beyond that. Um....also don't get hurt out there, dude.
Malzone64
About time the Sox "get down" and start playing like they know opening day is a week away. I don't know, did they turn it on just at opening day last year?
RedSoxAnni
Philadelphia scored three runs off David Wells in the first inning.

Boston is batting in the third; one run across...

Score is 3-1 Philly in the top of the third inning.

Anni
RedSoxAnni
Bobby Abreu hit a two-run homerun off Wells in the bottom of the third. Phillies still batting in the third; socre 5-1 Philadelphia.

I'm becoming a bit concerned about Wells... This is his last ST appearance before Sunday.

Boomer....you have more than a few of us a little concerned.
Manny's ps2
I'm not worried about Wells because he's a nibbler who doesn't nibble in Spring Training. He'll be fine.

Unless he's Mendoza II

5-1 Philadelphia after 3 1/2

Still 5-1 Philly after 4

The Silence of the Bats (at least against pitchers not named Mark Redman) is starting to bother me a bit too. Does anyone know who is in the lineup today?

No info on lineups...

This was on the Sox website this morning, so we can assume these players are in the lineup.

Left-hander David Wells makes his final tuneup for Opening Night against the Yankees with Monday afternoon's start in Clearwater against the Phillies. Varitek, Damon, Millar and Renteria are among those making the trip.

5-1 after 5. We've been three-hit so far...

Anni
Dabize
Thanks, Anni

I guess that the Bats are trying to answer us - they seem to have picked up 4 hits and 4 runs in the top if the 6th so far........
RedSoxAnni
Good news! We're tied at 5-all after 5 1/2

All I have is that we scored four runs in the sixth, and that Millar homered off Corey Lidle. I don't know if it was a Grand Slam. The Sox got five hits in the inning.

I just keep coming back to Foulke from last ST. He was literally god-awful until the moment the real season started. I mean, he turned on a dime.

No reason any of the others can't do the same. One never knows if they're working on something specific, or if they're not mentally locked in, whatever.
RedSoxAnni
5-5 after 6 complete
Dabize
Seems to have been a 3 run HR, since the score was 5-2 and then 5-5 a few minutes later, with an additional hit.

This is like reading the future in chicken entrails!
RedSoxAnni
Thanks... I never got the 5-2 part! Of course, I do have my day job here!

At least the updates are showing hits now. For the first three weeks of exhibition games, only runs were posted.

I am writing a rec letter for a rather indifferent student in one of my courses here at UML, so it is no accident that I am woolgathering on an ST thread too!

Oops!

Wrong quote (edit)

Still 5-5 after 6 1/2.

5-5 after 7

6-5 Sox, 10 HITS in the top of the 8th, Sox still batting.

I feel better......

That's a total of 10 hits! They had 8 when the inning started, so there have been two hits in the top of the eighth.

8-5 Sox
Dabize
LOL......sorry about that!

I'll take the 10 hits (now 11) total, after the past few days.

Did the Phillies really make 3 errors in the 8th?

Sox 8-5
RedSoxAnni
9-5 Sox after 8. The bats woke up. Four hits in the inning, along with three Philly errors.

Anni
RedSoxAnni
9-5 final

Sox win!

The bad news: David Wells....

Why no thread for today's game Yankees, right, no? There has been one for every other game !! just wondering!
