I've noticed that we've had a number of registrations from European Sox fans in the last several weeks. I've logged in registrations from England, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, and Russia. I have also logged in registrations from Hong Hong, New Zealand, and Australia - so this welcome goes out to those of you from across the "other" pond.
Please check into this forum and tell us a little about yourselves and how you became Sox fans.
I'll also extend this welcome to members from Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean if you'd like to join the forum.

Well I guess I qualify for this forum since I live in the Caribbean.
I'm Tessie, and as you can see from my profile, I live on St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Although I was born and brought up on the South Shore of Massachusetts.
It's such a very cool thing that we have posters from around the globe. When I was in London last year, I saw a number of Red Sox caps and was thrilled to talk to some Sox fans in local pubs.
The heck with Red Sox Nation.....it's a Red Sox World !!!!!

I would be interested to hear from any members of the RSN from England. I'll be spending six weeks in Oxford this July/August, and I would love to see some familiar red "B"'s around. Besides, I'll be going through withdrawal having to miss all of those games on MLB EI.

I am a poster from Ireland. Grew up in Connecticut but have lived here for years. If you are in the UK or Ireland you can get MLB on the NASN channel. They tend to show a lot of Red Sox games

THe Channel you are looking for is NASN. You will also be able to keep tabs on the Celts. Most of what it shows is time delayed due to the time difference
http://www.nasn.com/I have been to Germany a few times and there is a large US population due to the military so I imagine you will get it on some channel. If you email nasn they should be able to tell you

Although I am not from across the pond, I am from across the 49th so to speak. This Canadian grew up in Saint John, New Brunswick but has lived in the neighbouring province of Nova Scotia for the past 31 years. I attended my first Sox game in 1962 and have been going to Fenway mostly on a yearly basis since. This year I will be fortunate enough to make three different visits to Boston to take in four games. The final one using Monster seats I acheived through the Red Sox Nation lottery.
I have recently retired from teaching where I spent 30+ yrs and have fallen into the habit since the World Series of visiting these Message Boards at an alarming rate. We are lucky enough to get UPN 38 on our satellite package and that along with a subscription to MLB TV lets me see almost every Sox game.
I enjoy being able to do some interviews for the site as well.

I'm here to represent Red Sox Fans from the country of ALBANIA. I've lived in Boston for sometime but there is quite a few Red Sox fans back home whenever I go back.
They even have a place in Tirana, AL where you can go and watch baseball games an have cold beer. Last summer me and two buddies painted The Green Monster as a mural at the pub.

As my name suggests ..from Scotland..have been a member of this board for a while..however don't post often as still learning the game.
All the guys seem so knowledgeable.
Get my Sox doses through Channel 5 (uk) NASN and in my third year of MLB.tv. Only thing that stops me watching games is time difference. I work shifts so I catch most games.
Been spreading the word over here. It sickens me that the sports stores only carry CFY stuff. However that is changing thanks to last year.

Scotian1, glad to see you made it here from the Bornintoit board, too. There was a guy from the UK on bornintoit but I don't remember his name.
I'm representing Red Sox Nation far north, or RSN north of 60 - Anchorage, Alaska. There are a lot of Sox fans up here. The Far from Fenway club meets at Humpy's to watch games. That's where I saw game 4, the clincher, last October.
I grew up in Somerville, but I do know of one Sox fan who grew up in Fairbanks.

Hi there another English Sox fan here, starting to follow the Sox about 5 years ago after seeing the similarity between them and my favourite football (soccer) team Middlesbrough who had never won a trophy in their 120 + year history (now that it is even more of a curse!!). But amazingly both teams run ended in the same year with Middlesbrough winning the Carling Cup final.
Like the rest of sox fans over here i follow baseball using NASN , channel 5 and mlb.com. In fact at present watching a tape of the cubs game last night from c5.
I am also into fantasy baseball, playing in a yahoo league with a mixture of uk and us players (don't ask me how it's going it's not pretty)
I live near Middlesbrough which is in the North East of England about 40 mile from York.
I look forward to getting involved with the Royal Rooters on Red sox nation.
Go Sox!

Speaking of Bornintoit.com, two things:
1.) My brother just rolled in from Seattle and gave me, my two sons, and my wife, mom, dad and sister all some gear from bornintoit.com. Good stuff. My 2-month-old just wore his "Born Into It" onesie, and the chicks were diggin' it.
2.) Bornintoit.com recommends Royal Rooters as the place to go for Sox message boards besides their own. Very many thanks, and keep up the good work!

Born:
November 6 1973 (One day after Johnny D.

First thing I remember about baseball:
1986 World Series, Sox fan ever since
Then:
1990 Started playing baseball myself
1992 Visited Boston to see two games at Fenway
I can receive Radio AFN on the AM sometimes, so every now and then I can catch a game. Playoffs are usually broadcast on pay TV, but I'm able to decode that on my PC, without sound though.. ah well.
Heard the Clemens ejection, saw the ALCS 2003 Game 7 and then last year...
The Dropkick Murphy's played at the Lowlands festival, and they played Tessie (they expressed some doubts about whether we knew what baseball was, while at the same time our National team was playing (and losing) in the Olympics, and team USA... eh???) Great!
And then the Playoffs... boy, afterwards I read the whinings of Stephen King and Stewart O'Nan about westcoast games and staying up too long. Well guys... try being a Sox fan in Europe! (Great book otherwise

)
Ah well, to conclude I'd like to suggest that after the naming of foulpoles the path between 1st and 2nd shall be named 'Dave Roberts Highway'

I need to call on the wisdom of some of our international rooters. I leave for Oxford on Thursday. I'll be there for seven weeks, and I have had MLB Extra Innings here in the States for the past three years. Needless to say, I will be in serious withdrawal. Are there any pubs in Oxford that are Sox friendly? Any that show the games?
I'll be following along on the internet, but it will be tough not to see them play.

Currently the UK is Wimbledon and Soccer. After the Wimbledon finales it will probably be Soccer and Soccer. Maybe some Crickett will be added or horseracing, or tea drinking contests or log eating. But Baseball in the UK...
30 seconds a day on CNN International and the occasional live game on PayTV (at least in the Netherlands). If you're close to a US Base you might get AFN on the radio (873 Mhz through most of Germany).

I think the Van Gogh museum is a good one, the Rijksmuseum is a good alternate. (It's currently being reconstructed, but highlights of the collection are still on display).
Two other suggestions: The
Anne Frank House and
Nemo (Not that hard to find actually).
The Anne Frank House is more traditional and of course typical for Amsterdam, Nemo is a modern museum for science and technology.
This is a site you might want to check, it hosts
this list of the 15 most popular museums in Amsterdam.

I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years (96-99). In a town called Landgraaf. My family and I loved it. It is by far one of the best places to live. Dogs are welcomed everywhere. The people are very friendly to Americans and very health conscience(walking and riding bikes). Plus I became addicted to the Fries with mayo. Both my kids were born in Heerlen so we definitely want to go back when they get older. I worked in Maastricht for a year and loved it, such a nice city.
Now, I live in Puerto Rico. We have been here since 99. I look forward to coming back to the mainland. I have an extreme case of Island fever.
Luckily, I get to spend this summer in Beantown.
Love this site.

Hi, am a sox fan living in oxford. Not the easiest to watch baseball here, get a couple of mlb games a week late late night on terrestial tv (remember we're still pretty much in the dark ages tv-wise in the UK), but not shown in any pubs in ox.
Saying that, there's a group of us who are big sox fans and have mlb.tv subscriptions, so give me a message when you get this and we'll let you know if we're watching any games, just remember there's a 5 hour time difference which tends to mess things up - extra innings games suck badly when its 3am and you've got to be working by 9am!!

it's the west coast ones that are the killer - for the playoff games on the west coast I've actually just got up at 5am to watch the last hour - weird feeling the excitment of a sox win at 6 in the morning then wondering what to do with yourself at that silly hour of the day!

I'd second that (I'm another Oxford based Sox fan) - terrestrial coverage is of more or less random competitive teams too (and I know its two Braves games in the coming week). Bar the internet the only alternative is finding somewhere that has a subscription to NASN (North American Sports Network), a cable channel.

Hi
I am a Sox fan in England, came back to baseball in 2001-ish, remembered seeing the Sox on TV over here in the 1986 World Series. Have been a "hardcore" fan since 2002, watching almost every game via TV/internet/Gameday - which takes some stamina as games usually start around midnight.
Am a huge fan of Nomar (still).
Hang out in the Red Sox usenet group where I like to be one of the "glass is more than half full" guys, trying to keep the outlook positive and see the sunshine amidst any gloom.
Contribution to the baseball world?
Coined the term "shitting for the cycle" - a groundout, flyout, lineout/popup, strikeout
Contribution to Red Sox nation?
Guaranteed that my positive karma would bring the WS to Boston if I visited in person. I visited Boston in September 2004, saw a weeks worth of games and reaffirmed my guarantee.
Currently batting 1.000 in the "visit Boston, Sox World Champs" series.

Hello! Another English Red Sox fan here

Why the Red Sox? Well, I live on the east coast of England in a little town called... Boston!
It is a living nightmare following games from here. I subscribe to MLB.tv and since getting married in 2004, my wife has also become a 'Rooter' and we try to watch as many games as possible (work and stuff permitting).
We're heading over for a New England holiday in Aug/Sept this year and we have tickets to a game so keep your fingers crossed for us that the late August weather is kind -- it would be just our luck to have our once-in-a-lifetime game rained off
