ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Tim Hummel and Justin Sherrod each hit home runs to lead the Pawtucket Red Sox to a 9-2 victory over the Rochester Red Wings in the International League Tuesday night.
Pawtucket (7-11) scored two runs in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Youkilis and a single by Kelly Shoppach.
David Bacani, a 5-foot-7 utility infielder who entered as a pinch runner in the 10th, drilled a walk-off homer to left-center field off Manny Delcarmen to conclude a 4-hour, 15-minute game before 2,028 in NYSEG Stadium.
But that wasn't the worst news for the Sea Dogs, who lost shortstop Hanley Ramirez to a left calf injury. Ramirez, the top prospect for the Boston Red Sox, was limping after grounding to second in the ninth inning and was replaced by Raul Nieves.
"We'll find out more (today)," Sea Dogs Manager Todd Claus said. "He had a little tightness in the calf. We couldn't take a chance at him injuring it more."
