Full Version: Seeking Photo of Cabrera at bat 6/3/05
Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD

My eight year old son and I were at last nights game and were lucky enough to score Orlando Cabrera's autograph. The reaction from the crowd when he took his first at bat was amazing. It helped to teach my son the value of respecting athletes contributions, no matter what uniform they wear.

MLB.com had a great photo of him tipping his hat to the crowd, but I couldn't save it to my computer. I couldn't find anything at the Globe and Herald.

If anyone with a photo of his first at bat - either personal or from a news site - could post it here, we would appreciate it. I want to put together a framed shot of him along with the autograph for my son's ever growing baseball shrine.

Thanks

ESPN.com also has a photo gallery for each game. This picture of Cabrera may be a little larger than the one Empy posted.

Just a random quick tip, since you've gotten two sources for the picture otherwise-

With these type pictures, like on mlb.com that are part of flash players, yuo can just do a screen cap ("print screen" button), go to paint, paste it in there, and then crop it to the picture. I've done that a few times, it works.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but could you explain the print screen button again? I was looking at the flash player, and then I hit the print screen button, but then what do you do? I tried right clicking on the picture again, but couldn't copy it or anything.

Thanks.

You hit print screen and then this allows you to paste this image in a program... ms paint, word etc. If you hold alt when pressing print screen you will only capture the current open window.

Sox fans are classy as hell. We always have a soft spot in our hearts for former players who did good things for us, and we acknowledge them when they move on. Has anyone ever heard of MFY fans giving props to former players?

I don't follow them enough to know, but I'd guess Tino got his props when he returned as a Devil Ray.

Being at Fenway for the Friday night OC ovation definitely goes down as one of my greatest Fenway moments. It was marevelous to see just how much of an impact a three month stint by a previously obscure (relatively speaking) shortstop had on Red Sox Nation.

I'll be there to bid him farewell later today and will cheer as loudly as I did Friday and Saturday.

I was at the game on Friday night and I agree. It definitely ranks up there for me in Fenway Park moments. It was a very emotional moment. I didn't realize the affection I had for the guy until that night.

Thanks again for the photos and all the great posts. Every time I see that photo, it brings me back to Friday's game and last years championship finish.

Too bad San Diego isn't scheduled for Fenway this year. I imagine the reception for Dave Roberts would would be amazing as well. I really miss him, but am glad that he found an everyday role on an NL team.

Dave got one hell of an ovation on Opening Day when he returned for the ring ceremony.

Fenway fans are the classiest fans in baseball, hands down.

The ovation OC got on Friday made me proud to be a Red Sox fan.

That moment is my number two. Ever. The other being Cabrera's double that bounced off the top of the scoreboard to score Damon from first in August. It was my first game in years, and to have it end in a walk-off win with one of my favorite players batting, damn.

There should be a thread for this kind of reminiscing - favorite moments for which you were AT Fenway.
