Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Carlos Silva v. Bronson Arroyo

The game will be on WSBK

Boston weather: 3 pm observation at BOS: Few clouds at 6,000 feet, 22,000 broken, visibility 10 miles, temperature 81F, DP 58F, wind out of the west at 12 mph.

Forecast: A lovely night for baseball. The wind will be out of the west to southwest, which is blowing out.

Anni

Edit: Change pitcher to Bronson Arroyo, who will be replacing Miller tonight.
SonofHazelMae
Wade Miller has been scratched from his start tonight, according to the Providence Journal's Art Martone.

In a post on the Sons of Sam Horn message board, Martone said the Red Sox are now planning to start Bronson Arroyo tonight and David Wells tomorrow. Both will be going on normal rest after Thursday's off day. Sunday's starter is TBA, with Jon Papelbon perhaps a possibility. There's no word on what's wrong with Miller, but the obvious guess is that his shoulder is bothering him.

Acording to dirtdogs and Redsox.com Bronsons pitching
Miller has been scratched. Could he be getting traded??? Interesting indeed

I just got the news about Arroyo pitching tonight... I made the change in the first post. WBZ news reported that it was to "reshuffle" the rotation because of the off-days, the injury to Clement, and the number of pitches that Miller threw last time out.

Not reading too much more into this, I'd say that they want Miller to go more than 5 innings because of the state of the bullpen.

hmm traded, interesting, but I doubt it, however it's weird that he had such a good start last time and was excited with how he is improving and then suddenly his shoulder hurts. then again, it could be his great pitching last time that aggravated it.

EDIT: sorry Anni, you posted as I was writing mine.

I'm not sure about the policy here, but what's up with the mojo? Are we going without tonight, 'cause if that's the case, I'm sure I can scramble and supply it...

**MOJO** - Sandwich Day 3
Pennsylvania's own Wade Miller gets the start at home today. Growing up, Wade would just be a short drive away from Philadelphia, and if Southwest Airlines has taught me anything, there is a reason everyone should go to Philly: cheese steak, cheese steak, cheese steak.

user posted image

Some people prefer Pat's, others prefer Gino's, but one thing is for sure: a cheese steak is one good sandwich. While the basic elements are simple, there are a lot of variety that comes with cheese steaks. Many prefer the taste of cheeze whiz on theirs. I myself prefer provolone, with green peppers and ketchup. While these variations are common, from your basic steak and cheese to your loaded steak bombs, they all have one thing in common: they are heavy, greasy, and very very good.

So like the gut busting, diet killing cheese steak (eat it without the bun for Atkins Approval!), the Red Sox need to cut loose and live a little. Enjoy the game, because you only get to play it once. The cheese steak may be bad for you in the long run, but if it makes you happy in the short term karma will take care of you. Sure swinging at the first pitch is a bad thing, but if you make sure you turn that first pitch into a double off the wall, everyone will look the other way.

The only person to be wary of the cheese steak is Wade Miller. He can still have one by all means, but he must be sure not to eat it too fast and get a stomach ache. That's why he has to take small bites. Nibble at the corners if you will. Miller has great stuff, he just needs to place it well, so being sure not to catch too much of the plate in one bite will be the key to victory.

If you would like to participate from home in today's mojo, down a big greasy cheese steak from your sub shop of choice. Mine is Cappy's on Westland Ave in Boston, or Romano's on Main St. in Salem, NH. Your heart may be mad at you later for all that grease, but the Red Sox will thank you now, and isn't that what's important?

[Looieswindup edit]: Sometimes ya takes what ya gets-today, we'll take Saturn Nuts over the Twins, instead of our regularly scheduled hurler-Wade Miller.

Is Manny in the ballpark? If not, can we maybe adjust things and have an outfielder in right field tonight? mad.gif

Fiskian Pole Shot said in the Manny thread that the Twins broadcast is reporting that Manny is not in the park even though he is in the lineup. Anyone else able to confirm this?

If this were true, I'd have to believe the team can theoretically not pay him for that. Couldn't they?

We shall soon find out!

Nothing on the 'EEI pre-game show, other than Theo saying the Sox would deal with the issue "in house", and Francona saying that all is well...

Anni
MTSUDaff
I have to believe that the Twins broadcast is wrong because pregame on NESN didn't say anything. Also, Olney reported to SC that there now is a seperate deal being talked about between Tampa and Boston where Huff and Baez would come here, and Manny goes to Tampa. Yeah Olney, okay. Maybe if we pay $18 million of his salary the remaining three years on the deal.
MTSUDaff
Manny's in left. Twins full of s**t.

This twins lineup is very pathetic. Arroyo should easily be able to 7 good innings.

11 pitches. Nice.

cold reception for manny. 60-40 at least boos. Not lustily booing, but few cheers.

Looie's: The double was a ball deep to center, and it took a funny bounce off the fencing on the bullpen part of the triangle. Hunter had a play on the ball, and he jumped into the wall. As he came down, his spikes caught in the padding and he took an injury to the lower leg. It looked to me like he turned his ankle. They took him off on a stretcher.

Booing Manny is despicable. I was disappointed in a couple things he did in Tampa, but booing him is entirely unacceptable.

reverse of what you thought. biggrin.gif

Its petty to argue over the ratio of boos to cheers, but it is fun isn't it? I do realize boos tend to be louder than cheers in general, but I just rewound the DVR and the cheers were there, but they were definately overwhelmed. They didn't boo him lustily, like arod is booed, but he got the point I'm sure.
