Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Runelvys Hernandez v. Tim Wakefield

The game will be on NESN

Boston Weather: 2 pm observation at BOS: 4,400 feet broken, 5,500 feet broken, visibility 10 miles, temperature 83F, DP 67F, wind out of the southeast at 10 mph.

Forecast: A weak frontal boundary moving east tonight could give rise to isolated thunderstorms, but the greatest threat appears to be south and west of Boston. It will most likely be a nice night for knuckleball - a little humid. the wind is southeast now, but will come around to the southwest/west later this evening.

Southeast is blowing in from right, southwest is blowing out toward left.

We need some Happy Birthday Mojo for Timmy, who turns 37 today.

BentleySoxFan
As requested, a little birthday poem mojo:

'Twas the night of Wake’s b-day,
RSN headed to the Fens.
And then Timmy rolled up to the park,
In his white Mercedes-Benz.

It was a little hot and humid,
He knew his knuckler would dance.
Good thing we have Dougie,
Cause Tim’s signature pitch puts Jason in a trance.

The knuckler was unhittable,
Tonight, the Royals won't rake.
Wake blew through that lineup so quick -
Because he just wanted his cake!

Each player celebrated in the clubhouse,
All of them wearing huge grins.
Not only did Wake have a great 37th,
The Sox had rolled to 6 straight wins.

Hats off to Tim Wakefield, undoubtedly one of the classiest men to ever wear the Red Sox uniform. I'll never forget you taking the staff's lumps in Game 3 and your fist pump in the extras of Game 5 - it's an honor to have someone of your caliber on our team.

Happy 37th Wake!

Happy birthday to Wakefield, hopefully the knuckler will be on tonight.

**MOJO** - Sandwich Day 6

If you were a sandwich what kind of sandwich would you be? I think I would be grilled cheese, but lucky for the Sox, I am not starting today's game (I've yet to perfect my sidewinder delivery, so my control is pretty awful, not to mention that I'd be lucky to crack 60 with my fastball). It is Tim Wakefield going today, and Tim Wakefield is not a grilled cheese. He is a peanut butter sandwich:

user posted image

Why peanut butter? Because peanut butter is reliable, delicious, and most importantly versatile. Add some jelly, and peanut butter makes one of the easiest and best sandwiches around. It can even come from the same jar, cutting your knife's work load in half!

user posted image

That's Tim Wakefield the starter. Always dependable, there when you need him, usually can give you a quality start and will eat up innings just like eating a PBJ will fill your stomach. Of course, sometimes there is a need elsewhere, and something a bit, shall we say, fluffier is in order:

user posted image

Just like when you need something sweet and fluffy to delight your tastebuds, Wakes has been known to take his fluttery knuckleball out the bullpen to help out the team. However, today, Wakefield is neither a PBJ or a Fluffernutter, he is a whole different kind of peanut butter sandwich all together:

user posted imageuser posted image

Sweet fried peanut butter and banana, a favorite of Elvis Presley. Why fried peanut butter and banana? Because they may be the Royals, but there is only one King.

user posted image

And just when you thought you couldn't get enough mojo, here's a little extra. The fantastic return of Birthday Mojo, for today is Tim Wakefield's 39th birthday. He shares his birthday with Peter O'Toole, Wes Craven and Olympic medal winner Linda Fratianne. What do these people have in common? They were born on August 2nd, and they are winners. Another list: Ross Perot, Gen. George McClellan, Runelvys Hernandez, Maurice Levy, and Greg Norman. These people were not born today, and they are losers.

Today's side dish is keeping it simple. While it may not be a favorite for my tastebuds, it is a favorite of many others. It's a delectable treat to have along side any peanut butter sandwich, and even some people(like Elvis) are putting them on their sandwiches. I'm talking about Bananas.

Tonight, we show those Royals that this, in Gwen Stefani's rather bizarre words, ish the Red Sox are all about is Bananas. B-A-N-A-N-A-S! The hitting, the pitching, the defense, the clutch hitting, the insanities, this ish is Bananas! Also, in celebration, you all must at least sing the song "Banana Phone" in honor of the second basemen/infielder Graffy.

Also because it's a catchy and fun song too.

I have not served up much mojo this season. For that, I do apologize. However, seeing as how it is Timmay's birthday, and Manny is back in everyone's good graces, I think it is time to help us focus on the next two months of baseball ahead of us. The team is set, they lead the AL East, yet something seems...off. Nothing is terribly wrong, they just don't seem to have the killer instict that is necessary to play .650 ball the rest of the way and win the division by 5 games. I want Korbel showers the Red Sox haven't known since Kevin Kennedy was steering the ship to a glorious 86 wins back in '95.

So who personifies this win-at-all-costs mentality we lack? Who would go above and beyond, until he had nothing left, only to give a little bit more? Who is both smart, cunning, tough, and had one of the seven best mullets of all time? Who would never, ever let Murdoc kill the simply radiant Penny Parker, regardless of how many times he thought that son of a bitch had died? Angus ****ing MacGyver, that's who.

Folks, saddle up with Richard Dean and I as we prepare for the rest of the season. Bring your Swiss Army Knife and a couple packs of gum. You're going to need them.

Yeah it threw me off because I thought it was prounounced how its looks. I thought I had been mispronouncing it since I figured Remy would know but apparently not.
Khross
I appreciate Remy attempting to make the comparison of Clemens being the last prospect with that kind of "live arm", etc, etc... He should just stop that though. It's waaaaay too much of a stretch in any sense. Pap has a bright future but still.

Ambres is owning us? Figures.

Did it just start raining at the Park? Maybe there will be a delay and the Sox will remember how to work a pitch count.

Sox Sweep Again
I love that I signed on just after a Manny homer, but I HATE that we're trailing the Royals.

This team needs three LAUGHERS right now. Separation!!! Separation is key to killing the remnants of the dirty, filthy Yankee spirit.
