MOJO** - Cameo Day 3

"What the hell is Brett Favre doing here?"
Another great cameo from a Farrely brothers movie, when it turns out that the ex-boyfriend of the object of everyone's desire Mary is none other than Green Bay QB Brett Favre. Favre was an example that the best choices are not always the biggest names. Clement has been an excellent signing for someone who wasn't getting a whole lot of attention, especially when looking at other free agent signings that haven't lived up to expectations (Radke's been below .500, Eric Milton has an ERA closing in on 7, and just look at the entire NYY rotation). Clement is someone to be appreciated, just as Mary chose Ted when she could have had anyone she wanted.
"What about Brett Fav-re?" "Didn't I tell you, I'm a Sox fan all the way."

Tonight I call upon a Mike Myers cameo to help ease the Sox tonight. Myers was a dude who wasn't exactly looked fondly upon by many people. "He can only pitch to lefties" and "he's really not that good" and of course with the whole paranoia over the submarine style, he wasn't exactly looked fondly upon. Before the Red Sox re-attained him, he was told by the Cardinals that he was done. After being re-attained, he has quietly had himself quite the season. Well as much as a guy like Myers can have. I call upon him tonight to help this team out any which way he can may it be a double play, a win, a strikeout, or even just a simple groundout. He can show us all what he's made of. Do your magic, Myers.

Thanks, Anni. One of my questions is answered. Now, why is Millar starting in right field instead of Kapler? Is this something Tito's doing to enhance excitement of the game on every fly ball to right?
***
Hitters have only managed a .251 batting average in Derryl Cousins' games this year. He tends to call more balls and fewer strikes than most (usually a good sign for Boston). I can't easily explain the low batting average from that tendency--I just offer it as a potential hint to how the game might go.

Actually I was more concerned about Millar's defense when contrasted to Kapler's. Astoundingly, in 14 games in RF this year Millar is above-average in RF (RF/9 of 2.60, ZR of .923, FRAA of +1). I guess that I should read the stats more...

A Teixeira walk, but otherwise an easy 14 pitch inning to get things rolling for Matty.

Even though that was an out, that's the Edgar the team needs to see the rest of the way: driving pitches the other way. I'm almost sure he's still getting used to having a short porch in LF for the first time in his career and he's spent the entire year pulling to use it when it's not his game at all.
Edit: me spel gud.

When will we know of this PTBNL?
Also, you know Millar is slumping badly when he can't turn on an inside fastball. That ball should have been over the monster. Best hit all night was Petagine's. He just got a little under it or it would've been at least a double.
So far Benoit is just overpowering the hitters with his fastball. He's thrown at least 85% fastballs tonight.

Wow. Matt Clement is just rolling along until ****ing ER and Cora **** UP. Two easy ground balls turn into a ****in run. God damnit guys. The way ER charged that first ball was soooo non-salant(sp) I wanted to puke.
If there is a defense as bad as the Red Sox please tell me. Maybe we need to get some younger guys who actually can move left to right and charge balls correctly. This is pathetic.
And then letting the runner get to third on Cora's ball...you gotta be ****in kidding me. That better be an unearned run. Way to jack up Clement's pitch count defense. Great job!

I mean I know as managers in MLB they really do NOTHING but do you think Tito could actually work on SHIT LIKE THIS? Maybe, just once? Doesn't he see how bad they are???
Hell, Cora's defense looks just as bad as Vasquez's...
I, as a pitcher, hate when my infield does that. It's that absolute worst thing you can do to a pitcher.
EDIT: If these errors are a product of slow grass or w/e either ER/Cora need to figure out the infield or ask it to be cut. Simple as that.
SuperManny
Aug 9 2005, 07:26 PM
I still don't see the appeal of Cora over Bellhorn. I don't think Graff or Bellhorn's D is bad enough that they need a defensive replacement. The only argument that makes sense to me is that Cora is better for backing up SS. But Renteria rarely takes a day off and if he does I don't think its a big deal to have one of the 2B play SS for one game. I would rather keep the G Spot and the Horn.
