Dustin Hermanson - Relief Pitcher

Dustin Hermanson's back problems are starting to cause issues in the White Sox's bullpen.

Cliff Politte was left in Tuesday's game a little longer than he would have been because Hermanson's back was hurting, and he gave up a homer to Alex Rodriguez in the ninth inning. ''If he had given the indication he could have [pitched], he could have started that inning,'' Politte said. ''But if he's really bothered, then it's something that he has to make up his mind and say that he can or can't go. But it has a ripple effect because everybody kind of does their role and then has another hitter or two in the ninth.''

*since NU isn't here yet and I'm a little paranoid*

From the series that kicked off Comeuppance Mojo, comes the most beardtastic cameo ever captured on celluloid. When you are in 1888 Hill Valley, who could possibly be the entertainment in the town fair other than ZZ Top?

user posted image

Is it bad that I know the song they play in this scene, and am hearing it in my head as I write this? The two bearded guys and the one clean-shaven one named Mr. Beard provide a memorable spark to the western installment to the Back to the Future trilogy, and their signature guitar flip is still enjoyable despite the antiquated instruments. All though to be honest, that drummer does look a little silly with just the one snare.

Today's mojo is especially directed at David Wells, as of late it has been the offense carrying the Sox winning streak and frankly, the hitters have mojo out the yin-yang. Getting the pitching on track will make the Sox current hot streak scorch hotter than a Stage 3 red log (seriously, I really like Back to the Future).

Of course, David Wells is not exactly unfamiliar with the world of cameos.

*Warning: Turn away if you don't wanna lose your lunch*

Piney says: For today's game, I'm calling upon the power of the 'Greek God of Walks', Kevin Youkilis. He's tired of being yo-yo'd and wants to avenge with his bat. May he find a way to cameo into this lineup tonight and have a Graffy-esque game. Either that or at least have a significant pinch hit HR or something. Or even a gamesaving catch. Just as long as he's in there doing something. smile.gif So go on "Greek" god of walks, and show us what you're made of.

Francona has been quick to put in players that have been acquired or called up but not this time with Youkilis. I like Mueller but it makes you wonder why we bothered with Youks at this time. I hate to see him rot on the bench when he was hitting in Pawtucket.
JayhawkBill
Terry Craft has a Strike Percentage of 65.2%, second to Doug Eddings among MLB umpires this year. There's a reason why Kevin Youkilis is sitting this game out--we're not walking to a victory tonight.

Graffanino and Renteria--and, of course, Manny--are the keys to the game, with power from Kapler and Millar a welcome surprise if it comes. For David Wells, the key will be keeping the ball in the park--he should be able to prevent the White Sox from stringing together too many hits or walks in an inning if he doesn't allow home runs.

I'll never forget how he was a waste of a roster spot when he was with the Red Sox in 2002, first with his groin pull and then with the staph infection because of a cut to his elbow.

My first game thread in almost 2 weeks. Was in Cleveland for a week and saw the Indians spank the MFY (also got compliments for my Yankees Suck, AROD Swallows shirt), and was sick all this week and away from the Internet (i.e. work).

I'm due for a game thread marathon and a Red Sox blowout.

Honestly, these guys are much much more annoying than Michael Kay, it's not even close and I hate Kay with a passion. I will post the "highlights" (read: lowlights) from these mental pygmies as the game goes on.

Are you listening? They are giving reasons why CWS has a better offense..more power..better pitching and a better overall team and one of their supporting reasons was because of the ChiSox record.

Then again the MFY is a different story

Sox Sweep Again
I just had a horrid experience.

I get home from work, fire up the MLB.TV, and am really happy to see "SOX 2" in the upper left corner of the screen.

Then it slowly dawns on me that:
1) This is the WHITE SOX feed of the game
2) I'm going to have to listen to Cock Harrelson say "He gone" after every Red Sox strikeout
3) The "SOX" refers to the White Sox, which is annoying as hell all game.

I can nto STAND these assclowns. Did he just say "Four nothing good guys"?? Yeah, that unprofessional hayseed certainly did.

Where is the VOMIT emoticon???

Each time they have scored he has referred to the ChiSox as good guys. That just repeats everything I am thinking..what really pissed me off was all their bogus reasons the White Sox are better than the Red Sox with one of the main ones being that the White Sox have a better record.

Krispy Creme usually gets crisped in the first couple. Let's wait and see if he settles down. Think I'm going to tune out for an hour or so. Don't need this as a downer going into the weekend.

I think the worst part is that we're down 4-0, I'm at work and don't have anything better to do, we're probably going to lose because we're facing Buehrle and I'm stuck with these gotards til 10 pm.
rogerpl
I always keep an eye on MFY but it's more fun when we are winning. Leiter has thrown 44 pitches so far , still in the 2nd.
Fiskian Pole Shot
Millar is 0 for 14 (now 15) against Buehrle and he gets the start? WHY???? banghead.gif
terpsnsox
If this game goes south quickly, its good to know there are some sweet pitching matchups on tap.

Zach Duke vs. Roy Oswalt
Danny Haren vs. Johan Santana.

Small consolation but still.

Need some good news, Leiter over 50 pitches score - 1 - 0 - Texas - still batting bases loaded in the 2nd

Leiter walks in a run, 1-0 Texas and he's thrown 52 pitches with 2 out in the 2nd.

Yes he is pitching a no-hitter. That means he hasn't allowed any hits, which means if he could keep it going he would accomplish a historical feat.

The historical feat, would be a no-hitter. It's very tough to accomplish.

No-hitter, no-hitter, no hitter.

No way he keeps it going now.

Yes.

In fact I was saying he has yet to allow any hits, and probably will not allow any for the rest of the game.

He is in fact pitching a no-hitter, did I mention that means he hasn't allowed any hits?
balla45
I'll tell you what...this game is amazing. The White Sox can't score 4 runs against the Yankees during any game of their series and then put up 4 runs against a better pitching staff in 2 innings against us. And our course Buehrle is throwing a friggen no hitter...

If we face the White Sox in the playoffs and do this shit we're done. We have go to hit their pitching because our pitching is just not that consistent.
Empyreal
Professional undoing of the no-hitter. Yay!
manny machine24
A NO HITTER?!?!. if he keeps this up it will be absolutely amazing!

He still has a shut-out going, not the same is it. smile.gif

Ha. They broke it up as I typed that

What a gem from these announcers ....

"Do you put more emphasis on ERA or Wins?"

(without hesitation, pause or consideration)

"Wins"
balla45
And of course we have Garland tomorrow. Just a bad night for Wells I guess. I mean he's facing an offense that got shutout by the Yankees. The White Sox frustrate the hell out of me.
