One game at a time. Yesterday's gone..

Come on, Jupiter Nuts Arroyo (he got an upgrade lately)

THE most important game you'll pitch this year. (barring a 1 game playoff)

Kick Ass and Take Initials Sox, you ain't got time left for names.
Manny's ps2
Lilly will pay for last night's debacle. Also, side note, D Cabrera throwing 100 mph strikes could cause a long night for the Chokees.

Sox win

**MOJO** - Elemental Day 1

With the season winding to a close, we turn to the very life force of the planet. Not to be confused with the Periodic Table of the Elements, these are the mythical sources of all the planet's energy, and have long been used to influence magic and superstition. While in the midst of the most important stretch of the year, we call upon them to help the Red Sox clinch the division title.

And with the team needing to be "en fuego" for the last few games of the year, we look to the element of fire.

user posted image

The entire team needs to get hot and stay hot. The offense needs to scorch some liners, much like Edgar Renteria has been doing the last few games. The defense needs to make some hot plays in the field, like Alex Cora always seems to manage when called upon. And Arroyo needs to bring the heat and sit down the Blue Jays batters with no damage done.

To say that the rest of this season is a trial by fire would be an understatement. If you can't stand the heat, get out of Fenway.

If you would like to participate in today's mojo from home you could light some candles (red ones), or even roll out the grill for an early Autumn cook out. After all there are few better ways to prepare food than fire-grilling.

Kinda nervous bout tonight, but I hope Daniel Cabrera is my new favorite player

Let's just win it and worry about the other teams later ok? That must have been the reason for our loss yesterday, the team relaxing after everybody lost.

The game is supposed to be on ESPN tonight. I'm happy it was chosen over the other key games. Hope they don't pull a switcheroo. Shut them down, Bronson. Offense, make Ted look like Lily Tomlin. (Never knew it was Lily).

Does anyone know if the Sox game is on the radio in New Haven/Hartford?

edit: I found my own answer - this is really cool all the stations on all the major highways in New England - I hope it works! Road Trip Sox Radio Stations

Why does he insist on batting Varitek in the 5 hole? I mean, when was the last time he got a hit?
samba guy
It's unbelivable that I have to pay to LISTEN to a baseball game. WEEI online turns mute when the game starts, and it makes me so mad.

He's a switch and he knows Tek could easily break out of it at any moment. He's not Manny, but he's not as bad as he has been lately.

Well, if you believe ESPN's Jeff Brantley's opening comments the Red Sox might as well go home now. Pitching, pitching, pitching he says, we have none (except maybe Wakefield). Somebody ought to teach him the meaning of the phrase "you never know". Man is he a d*ckhead. F*ck him. Prove him wrong Sox!
bobgeorge
I'm reminded of a lefty named Rick Waits, who pitched for Cleveland in the 1970s. He pitched against the Yankees on the final day of the 1978 season, a tough lefty who we figured would give the Yaknees fits. Sure enough, he beat the Yankees while we shut out Toronto to set up that fateful playoff game.

With Lilly facing us, the Yankees must be thinking the same thing we did when Waits faced them in 1978.

BoSoxGirl75
What a great start for Bronson. UGH.
Leephus Pitch
He is up with everything. Meatball city.
He started this way against Baltimore, too.
MTSUDaff
That sound off of Vernon Wells' bat sounds a lot like our playoff hopes going down the shitter. Bronson is going to get rocked. He is missing location on a lot of pitches, not just the one that got hit out. Hell, the first pitch to Wells missed by about a foot as well, he just didn't swing.
24Red Sox
We have to trade for Frank Catalanotto. This guy kills us every damn year.

The only way we'll get Cattalanotto is if he is a free agent. The Blue Jays would never trade him to us.

Rent's homer made me think of Bernie Carbo's in game six in 1975. We'll take the same outcome tonight as way back then, and ring the belltower in Charlestown N.H.

Time for a key two out hit by El Graf.
MTSUDaff
Nice hitting by Graff. He continues to get hits when they are meaningless. Nothing but 2-out hits and bases empty singles. All day long.
MTSUDaff
I've got this brilliant idea. Don't throw inside to Cattalanotto. 3 runs in three innings. Great outing so far.
