I know he's been struggling but looking for Belli to get a big hit today. We need some patience and make ugly boy throw some pitches and maybe get squeezed. That pisses him off.

MOJO** - Fantastic Four Day 3
The Red Sox keep rolling, and so does the mojo from the world's first super team: the Fantastic Four. Today, it is the leader of the group as well as the team's namesake: Mr. Fantastic.

Blessed with the super stretching ability, Reed Richards is capable of extending his body to incredible lengths, excellent mojo for today's game versus the Yankees. Think a ball is going to reach the gap? Nope, looks like Johnny's arm is just long enough to extend and get it, just as Graffanino's body will find a way to lay out and stretch to make the distance. Think our guys are going to get thrown out at any bases? Not when we can stretch our hands around any would be taggers. Let's not forget about errant knuckleballs, ones that will be easily blocked by the expanding powers of Doug Mirabelli.
But it is in fact not his super powers which make Mr. Fantastic so valuable, he brings much more to the table. He is a certifiable super-genius, often willing battles with science instead of brawn.

I don't even know what that big gun does, but I know I don't want to mess with it. It is these smarts from the dugout to the pitcher's mound to the field and the basepaths that will guide the Red Sox through the game. With Randy Johnson on the mound, the Red Sox can't afford to give away outs on either side of the ball, and it will be smart baseball play that will prevent that.
Even more than his rubber-like appendages and his massive brain, it is Mr. Fantastic's leadership that makes him so important to the team. And just as the Fantastic Four would be nowhere without Reed's guidance, so too will the Red Sox falter without their own veteran leadership. It will be up to Tim Wakefield, the longest tenured Red Sox player, to set the tone. He has been coming up big all September, and this is the one we need from him the most.
It is also worth noting that Reed Richards is married to Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. And if you think that mentioning that is just a flimsy excuse to post another picture of Jessica Alba in her Fantastic Four costume, well... you'd be absolutely right.

The game is on FOX
I have noticed something about RJ. He has for about most of the season completly dominate except for one inning every game. If we can get to him that inning than we will be able to crack it open (example of this the white sox game when he gave up back-to-back-to-back home runs and a 2 run shot but completly shut them down every other inning)

Win today's game.
You find yourselves in the exact same place you were in yesterday. Right now, there is nothing else in the world besides winning today's game. Tomorrow is still tomorrow. Whatever happens in Cleveland is still ultimately irrelevant. You must count on yourselves. You can defeat them. No lazy, pop fly Yankee-Staduim-special by an admitted cheater will beat you today. This time, Wake gets the win he deserved in New York.
You are in a better position than you were yesterday, but it is still time to win or go home.
Win today's game.
There is nothing else.

Ok so if we take 1 out of the last 2 vs the Yankees then we move into a tie. And there is a good chance there will be some kind of playoff with the Yanks, Indians, or both. Mr. Wakefield I do not want any more playoff games than necessary;
There's only 1 thing left to do then.......

I understand the need for defense today, but our lineup scares me. Trot has never faced RJ as far as I am aware of and Renteria is the only player with any kind of success against him either. Here's to Timmy and the flutter.

I say 10 times - in the first inning alone.
Boy, watching Boone look so feeble last night on ESPN in the late innings when the winning run was on second, it reaffirms my belief that his shot against Wake was even flukier than Dent v. Torrez.
The 4-8 spots in the Sox order could be a problem with Millar, Mueller, Belli and Nixon. The only one I'm really confindent about holding his own is Mueller. Maybe Millar has extra adrenaline this time against RJ after their stare-down in the stadium. He almost hit a homer against him on opening day in New York but Matsui went over the wall and took it back. Boy, that was so long ago.
Belli is a wildcard. He could surprise w/ a key hit or two or he could stink on ice. Nixon has hit better against lefties but still not all that terrific. Tito summed it up by saying Trot's Ok against lefties as long as he swings at pitches that are strikes. That's like saying I never have problems paying my car loan as long as I don't blow the money on beer and strippers.
Go Sox. Go Wake.

For those worried about the lineup:
The only way I could see an offensive improvement would be Varitek at DH, Ortiz at 1B, and Millar in RF (in other words, Varitek replacing Nixon).
Of course, Ortiz at 1B and Millar in RF would be a disaster defensively.
So, Tito could go either way.

Today, to take on the power of Mr. Fantastic, I call upon somebody who really needs a good hand today more than anybody else. No, I'm not talking about Millar, though he may need a bit of one. I'm talking about Trot Nixon. This is gonna be a very rough challenge for him, so may he find a way to stretch singles into doubles, doubles into triples, and somehow poke the ball thrown by RJ to where the fielders aren't at. He's not very good against lefties, they say, but then again, Mr. Fantastic wasn't exactly known as the best of the Fantastic Four...so stretch on Trotter, we're gonna need ya.

He's not okay at all.
.238 avg with 4 extra base hits all year against LHP. Add to that he's hitting .233 in September, only .231 at Fenway all season, and he is probably in for a long day.
