Full Version: TV or Radio?

ESPN is sending the worst team ever for the Sox-Pale Hose series, consisting of Chris (back, back, back) Berman, Rick Sutcliffe, and Mike Piazza. I'm convinced that I cannot possibly listen on TV to these clowns. Michael Kay is more tolerable. It will be weird listening and watching at the same time (w/ the TV on mute obviously) because of the delay but I think I'll have to do both.

I would rather get worked up with, "Way back.... WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY BAAAAACK.... Dye makes the catch for the out in RF" 100 times a game than listen to the likes of Chris Berman. He is to play-by-play what Joe Morgan is to color commentary.

It'll be radio for me! I'm the only Sox fan in the house. Everyone else is hugely indifferent! Besides, the crew doing the T.V. is a whipping, as y'all mentioned.

I liked Leiter last year. Who knows maybe Piazza will do well today. I'm happy that it is not McCarver though, there is only so much of him I can take!

Berman is putrid on play-by-play and Sutcliffe talks WAY too much. Fortunately I'll be watching the series in a crowded bar, so I won't be hearing too much of their inanities.

Can anyone tell me why Rick Sutcliffe is so mother-****ing obsessed with "the clubhouse" and what goes on there? And why he begins every on-air sentence with, "I was talking to [blank] today, and..."

He likes to mask his own feelings of inadequacy by dropping names.

This is still an easy question -- TV. I'd rather suffer through Sutcliffe and Piazza talking over each other than listen to Trup and Cat call the pitch before I see it. When you have TiVo, there's a bit of a delay.

p.s. See, that was so Sutcliffe of me. I like to let it drop that I have TiVo.

Or why he ballwashes Pizza. For example:
Game 1, Bradford comes in and Piazza mentions how he has trouble hitting pitches thrown from that angle. To which Sutcliffe replies, "I wish you'd told me that when I was pitching against you."
Game 2, Varitek beats out a FC that could have been a DP but results in a run. Piazza comments how Varitek hustles all the time to which Sutcliffe replies, "I can think of another catcher who hustles all the time too."

Gimme a break.

For the last several innings I had to give up on the ESPN crew and listen to the radio with the sound on the TV turned down. The most annoying thing about that was the radio was about 1 1/2 seconds ahead of the TV feed. I could take it except on strike outs.
