Ha! I thought the same thing when I saw that picture.

David Ortiz will now be playing the part of Max.

(If you get this reference, name the book, and you'll have my eternal admiration.)

Well, the most important Max in literary history is Max from "Where The Wild Things Are." Who did, of course, threaten, "I'll eat you up!"

Half-credit. Same author, different book. I could have sworn the character in the one I'm thinking of was named Max, but suddenly I'm not so sure.

Shit. Wrong character name. Character's name is MICKEY, not Max.

In The Night Kitchen. I don't remember that one nearly so well.

But then, I have an entire shelf in my house with these guys on display:

I had the same thought, how old are your kids?
Zenit2k9
Well done Doc. And rominer. One of my favorite kids' books of all-time. (But still trumped by anything the immortal Ted Geisel ever wrote.)

No kids. I'm just a very immature adult. whistle.gif

That was my favorite book growing up. And I stand by the "Deep Thoughts With MALC" notion of, "you only have one past."

Actually, the exact words were:

QUOTE
Tell me about it, Mofo! That makes it all the more important to keep a tenuous hold on my past. You only got one past, and it becomes all the more vital in your future. Know what I'm sayin'?

EDIT: I'm also the oldest of 5. So there's been a pretty steady stream of kids in my life for the better part of the last 90 years or so.

"Big Papi is coo-coo for coco crisp."

Its the obvious answer... but it had to be said... I hate myself now. This must be what Shaughnessy feels like after writing an article... except I haven't tried to ruin anyone's career or drive anyone out of town b/c they made fun of my effeminate haircut.
