WORCESTER— Winning the Can-Am League championship last summer helped the Worcester Tornadoes attract a network of at least five radio stations this season.
“We think it’s unprecedented in independent league baseball,” Alan Stone, Tornadoes president and CEO, said yesterday.
The team plans to formally announce the radio deal during a press conference at 2 p.m. today at the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
Stone said WTAG (580 AM) would fit in up to 27 Tornadoes games around its Boston Red Sox schedule. Four other stations, Clark University’s WCUW (91.3 FM), WBNW (1120 AM) in Concord-Framingham, WGAW (1340 AM) in Gardner, and WESO (970 AM) in Southbridge, will carry all 92 of the Tornadoes’ regular-season games.
