Foulke's pitching today according to redsox.com
RedSoxAnni
The Sox scored four runs on four hits in the first off Casey Fossum. It doesn't look like there were any homeruns.

4-0 Sox after 1.

Anni
BlackJack
Why can't we get players like Fossum?

/Boob Lobel
RedSoxAnni
TB did not score in the second.
RedSoxinIsrael
Sox batted around in the first. Crisp leading off both innings.

Any chance today's the first time (right?) the Sox are playing the full lineup?

Sox extend lead to 5-0 still in the bottom of the 2nd, Manny batting with 0 outs according to MLB.com Scoreboard.

Now 7-0, after 2. Wells pitching in the 3rd. Still no HRs.
RedSoxAnni
Sox scored three more runs on three hits in the bottom of the second.

Sox 7, TB 0 after 2.

No info on homeruns yet.

Anni
Curll
7-5, Gomes with a HR off of Wells.

That was a short lived bit of glory.
RedSoxAnni
Toby Hall homered off Wells in the third as well.

7-6 Sox after 2 1/2

mwpeters8182
Thanks for the info, RSiI, it's much appreciated.

And shame on the rest of you for saying "no homeruns yet" over and over.
RedSoxinIsrael
Thank papsroy06... biggrin.gif

It's no problem.

Sox out in the 3rd. 7-6 after 3.
Manny's ps2
Why is there no way to listen to this game? Send a couple college kids with cellphones to call the game. WTF??? How am I supposed to acclimate myself to work after a weekend with no baseball to fixate on? This is downright unamerican! Somehow I'm getting score updates via israel via papsmear06...

Edit: Anni, next year I'll borrow the RSN jet that's parked in MALC's driveway and call the games myself....Avoiding contact with the ashtrays of course
RedSoxinIsrael
Wells' horrible 3rd:

QUOTE
Luis Ordaz singles

RedSoxinIsrael
Sox batting in the bottom of the 4th. 7-6 Sox 7-7 in hits.

Loretta gets a hit. He's 2-2 with a BB.

Sox score a run (not sure how)....End of the 4th. Wells still in. 8 runs on 9 hits.
RedSoxAnni
The Sox scored a run in the bottom of the 4th.

8-6 Sox after 4
RedSoxinIsrael
Wells out after 4. Here's the Sox 8th run:

*Ortiz batting, Loretta steals 2nd base
*Ortiz flies out
*Manny flies out
*Varitek Doubles, driving in Loretta... 8-6

Wells worked a clean 4th but that doesnt erase the fact he just about gave up an early 7 run lead. Non-roster Mike Holtz is now pitching the 5th

Scoreless 5th for Holtz.
RedSoxinIsrael
Sox add 2 in the 5th.

10-6 Sox after 5.

Holy @#$$ing crap this game is on gameday...

Foulke in, it seems. 3 outs on 5 pitches, including a strikeout. Not bad, not bad at all
RedSoxinIsrael
Foulke with a 1-2-3 inning.

2 first pitches, 2 outs. Gathright strikes out on 3 pitches all swinging.

Now with Gameday...updates on batters:

Thanks for the link! How did you find it? I can't see any links for gameday on the mlb website. I normally use Yahoo during the season, and they don't have ST games. I've got gameday audio from mlb. Do you have to subscribe to the gameday links as well?

Where did you find that link to gameday?

Edit: Too slow

No problem, it's a bit behind (it basically waits until the end of the inning and then updates it all together quickly) but it's better than anything we have today.

Actually read it on another forum...don't think there's a direct link there from the MLB site but I believe you can change the end of the url...like this:

....2006_03_27_tbamlb_bosmlb_1&brand=mlb you can probably change tomorrow to

to 2006_03_28_bosmlb_cinmlb_1&brand=mlb and it'll work (once the game starts) (If you want, when you open tomorrow's thread you could just put that in the first post [it'll probably work only when the game starts-lineups are posted])

10-7 Sox, timlin gives up a run.
RedSoxAnni
Tomorrow's game will be on WEEI, and with a little luck the rest of the games will be on mlb gameday audio.

There's got to be a way to link to gameday... Is it a subscription service in the spring?

Anyone ever heard of Keoni De Renne before? Was that like the bat boy or something?

Minor League Free Agent? Was playing for Arizona AAA club last year in the Pacific coast league.
RedSoxinIsrael
1st and 2nd for the Sox but no runs. Willy Mo Pena K'ed looking.
RedSoxinIsrael
No idea.

Taverez and Gathwright had a fight apparently:

QUOTE

It was in the eighth. There was a pickle at second and they threw home to get I think Gathwright out. He came up swinging at Tavarez and Tavarez clocked him in the head both benches and bullpens cleared. After the fight while the umps were talking Crawford came out ot the dugout and started walking towards the Sox dugout, but he wasn't ejected and was booed imediatly after in his next at-bat.

Harris singles, Stern singles, Wilson with a run scoring play!

The fight:
QUOTE
For the second straight day, the Red Sox were involved in a bench-clearing incident in a spring training game.

In the top of the eighth, Sox reliever Julian Tavarez threw a punch at Devil Rays outfielder Joey Gathright as he slid into home plate (with Tavarez covering), connecting with a right to the chin.

Tavarez was already irritated at the time, having endured an error behind him and making another error himself.

Here’s how it went down ...

After the two fielding mistakes by the Sox, Tavarez’s first pitch to Julio Lugo was high and tight. With Gathright already on second base, Lugo went on to get a hit, but got caught between first and second.

Recognizing they had Lugo in a pickle, Sox catcher Ken Huckaby ran out toward him while keeping an eye on Gathright, who had moved to third and was partway down the third base line.

Huckaby threw to infielder Zach Borowiak to nab Lugo. When he did, Gathright broke to the plate, forcing Tavarez to cover home. Borowiak threw to Tavarez, Gathright slid, and Tavarez tagged him (Tavarez might have gotten spiked).

Tavarez then connected with a punch, and players rushed the field. Jonathan Papelbon came running out from the bullpen, and he and Papa Jack pulled Gathright out of the scrum.

Devil Rays outfielder Carl Crawford and Gathright were gesturing toward the Sox dugout, but there were no other incidents (though we believe Tavarez was yelling from the dugout).

In the bottom of the eighth, newly acquired Red Sox first baseman Hee-Seop Choi was plunked by Rays pitcher Wayne Franklin, and the umps warned both sides.

Enrique Wilson reaches on force attempt, missed catch error by shortstop Julio Lugo, assist to second baseman Nick Green. Willie Harris scores. Adam Stern to 2nd.

11-11!

1st and 2nd 0 outs. Durrington batting. error onpickoff...runners to 2nd and 3rd!!!
WakefieldKnucklehead
First the Beckett - Howard incident, and now this. Man.

So much drama for just spring training. What are we going to encounter in the regular season?

I thought that things were getting a little out of hand with Tampa Bay over the last couple of years with all of the plunking going on. Thought that the new manager might make a difference. Maybe its too much bad blood between the two teams for what ever reason.

This year's Red Sox are really starting to make a name for themselves. Two bench clearing sessions in two days?

RedSoxinIsrael
They walk Durrington, They walk Choi! Sox win! The Sox win! smile.gif

12-11, wild game.

Papelbon with the win, and the BS.

The Brawlin' Boston Red Sox.

Just an idea for Fenway: Install some turnbuckles and ring posts. I want to see Hee Seop Choi give Matsui a flying elbow drop.
