Jose Canseco plans to try out for the Los Angeles Dodgers, 2 1/2 years after his last appearance in the major leagues.

The six-time All-Star will attend the Dodgers' open tryout Monday in Vero Beach, Fla.

"Canseco's people called us," Matt Slater, the Dodgers' director of professional scouting, said yesterday. "He's welcome to come."

Canseco last played in the majors in 2001, when he hit .258 with 16 homers for the Chicago White Sox.

Canseco has people? Are they former inmates?

mad.gif I think it would be good to see Canseco back, he won't be the Canseco he was for the A's but it will still be good to hear how he's doing while he's back
The Ghost of Todd Jones
Why doesn't he just give up the major league dreams and come play for the Brockton Rox

Isn't he supposed to be in jail?? And since he spilled the beans about being on the sauce, he won't have that to help him out....Hang it up, Jose, and go back to snortin lines, stickin needles, and slapping chicks.. One helluva guy, that Jose...
MoBooty
I think its great that Jose is trying to come back. He adds a certain degree of comedy that noone else can really provide at the pro level. Maybe he can pitch...oh wait, the Dodgers are pretty stacked already. Maybe they can trade him to the Rangers then? They need some mound help.

I really hope Jose makes it back. I always liked him.

He was under house arrest the last I heard. For I don't remember what. The drugs maybe. But I guess that's over.

It would be HILARIOUS for him to come back and fail his first drug test. rolleyes.gif

If he's coming back with the Dodgers, is it to be a pitcher? If he can't juice up he won't be the hitter he once was, and he would be coming back to a pitchers park. Good Luck Jose.

Wait, but how will he come back if they banned steroids?

I'm also a Canseco fan, how can you hate on him? He's just a big doltish juiced up teddy bear. Good luck, Jose!
ability
I heard he was willing to play for the league min. and give all of his earnings to charity...

Now that is someone who wants to play baseball..

The question is can he play the field at all? After he left Texas, was there any time he wasnt DH? Thats all I recall him doing when he played for the sox.
