Full Version: Tito on Jim Rome
Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD
Mike LansWho
Just wanted to let everybody know that Terry Francona will be a call in guest on Jim Rome's The Jungle radio show. I'm not sure what hour he'll be on, but it will be a good conversation.

In Rhode Island you can catch The Jungle from 12-3 on 790 AM and 99.7 FM. I don't know where you can get it elsewhere.

I'll try and sum this up as best I can. The call came right at the end of the show so there wasn't room for comment by Rome, but I KNOW he'll mention it on tomorrow's show. Baiscally what impressed me was how energetic and upbeat Tito came across without sounding too carried away. Important parts were:

- Very impressed with the fans and their devotion to the club. Blown away by the devotion.
- When asked about Nomar and the offseason he played the company line: Nomar was upset, and should be, but he is a pro and is very ready for this year and being a Red Sox.
- When asked how to approach Manny and if he should do it differently, he was very candid. Said he knew it was his job to decide how best to deal with him. Said today was the first serious conversation he has had with him and said the guy is very professional. Nothing new here.
- Pedro and Schilling very professional and intense guys focused on winning.
- Asked about the team and morale and last year. He said that he is joining a bunch of guys who collectively had a lot of success lastyear and he wasn't a part of that. Admitted that he has to "earn my stripes with these guys."
- He was very impressed with how thorough and knowlegable Theo is. Said the guy appears to have a lot more experience than his age would suggest.
- Hasn't been through MFY and RS rivalry so said he couldn't comment on how white-hot the rivalry is right now. Said it will take some games to get a benchmark.
- Philly and Boston scenarios very different: Philly was rebuilding.

Head on over to www.jimrome.com and I'm sure the interview will be posted later today. To me, he came across very well.
