I need some help. I live close to the ballpark, but am drawing a blank here. The entire family is coming up from CT to go to the game with my girlfriend and me tomorrow. There will be eight including the two of us (mother, father, sister, bro in law, niece and nephew). The young ones are 4 year old twins, and my father is 6 weeks removed from a cycle of serious chemotherapy treatments. There is also a birthday being celebrated. I would love some suggestions on where to eat. Some of the major considerations are:

- Somewhere the kids wont bother everyone if they are restless
- Somewhat relaxing for my father, since this is a long day for him
- Parking or right near the ballpark would be nice. I have a parking pass for the game and would like to minimize running my father around
- I would like the food to be decent at least.

All this is compounded by the fact that as it is Sunday, many places will be on brunch menu.

Your advice is appreciated.

Outside of the most popular places right around the park, is a steakhouse down the street enough that it shouldn't be a mad house or a problem for the kids to get in. It is located 5 minute walk from the park (and right next to a $25 P garage in the mall) on brookline and park ave

There's Thornton's Fenway Grille or Linwood Grill and Barbecue.

The Longhorn Steakhouse is okay; it's a chain restaurant.

Boston Beer Works.

AMAZING steak tips.

I went to Longhorns steakhouse a few years ago for Easter dinner (I am from So cal, and we were in Boston to see a game that weekend). I remember eating a steak and mashed potaotes. That's it. that is all I can tell you about it. It wasn't bad at all, but I don't remember anything really standing out either.

Longhorn is just a chain. They're not too bad, but if you want something unique and something "Boston-y", go somewhere else.

VinnyT's is near Fenway, that's really good. Italian, it's a "local" chain. http://vinnyts.com/locations/ I've been to the one on Shrewsbury and I went to the one in Boston near Fenway, but that was the day of the Parade and I got really drunk on the T on the way in. So, yeah.

I went to Salem Beer works last year, that was awesome. You can't go wrong with beer works, it seems.

Remember he's got little kids in tow......Boston Beer works is not for little kids. Good food though.

Beerworks was a complete zoo, 90 minute wait 3 hours before gametime, and that was if we would split into two groups. Thorntons accomodated us very well and the food was execellent. Thanks for all the reccomendations here.

Awesome. I've never heard of Thorntons I'll have to try it next time...

After Saturday's game, we opted to go to Game On. And, it was really, really good. My father got a Angry Burger, I got the Rancher. Both were quite delicious and the fries also were stellar.

And, I had the two best Sam's Summer Ales I've had. 20oz of love, baby. Woo.

So, I was pleasently surprised. Not the cheapest place in the world, though.

A lot of people have had good things to say about Game On. I need to get there sometime.

And Sam Summer is fantastic. By far my favorite of the seasonal beers.

PRE- game restaurant? Thats just a poor idea. PRE-game you get yourself a sausage and peppers. Then you get a dog and peanuts... maybe if its hot a soft serve or something... and lots of beer. 2 at a time.

After the game you go to Game On, Boston Beer Works, Cask and Flagon or Tiki Bar. If youre under 21 you do Jillians. If you want to do sit down restaurant you go to Bertucci's. Thats my favorite restaurant in the world anyway. Get a garden salad, house/italian dressing, three cheese foccacia, and chicken piccata, side of asparagus. So declicious...

PS: The beer girl at Game On is unbelievably gorgeous. The one who talks about Coco Crisp in the commercial... gorgeous smile.gif
