Full Version: Nats-Sox TV Situation for DC Area Rooters
Royal Rooters > WE'RE TALKIN' BASEBALL > RED SOX - OFF THE FIELD
MFLetou
It looks like Monday's and Tuesday's Nats-Sox games will be on WDCA 20. (2 of the 32 games broadcast on 20 this season). Wednesday's will be available only on MASN. Obviously, MLE EI will black out the game on NESN.

MASN is on:

* DirecTV -- Channel 626

* Cox -- Channel 102 in Fairfax, Va. and Channel 79 in Fredericksburg, Va.

* VerizonFIOS -- Channel 66

* RCN Cable -- Channel 8

* Charter -- check local listings

I am a DISH Network subscriber, so therefore I'm going to go ahead and throw a temper tantrum because I can't watch the game (and of course its blacked out). I seem to have bad luck seeing Lester. His first start was not televised in its entirity because it was supposed to be a FOX Game, his last start was a screw up by MLB EI which they took the wrong feed, and now this.

Anyway, that's the situation.

And if you're a Comcast customer like me, you are just shit out of luck on Wednesday. I'd switch to DirecTV, but there's a big f'ing tree in my apartment's line of sight to the satellite.
mascho
Wow. Us RCN customers in the city get all three. I feel like I've won the lottery.

But I'll be watching on the crappier TV, since the wife has this odd obsession with Chef Gordon Ramsey...

I only missed one inning of Lester's last game--Direct TV turned on my NESN feed a couple of minutes after I explained the exact problem along with the words "breach of contract." I'd thought that everybody got fixed--did they only open the NESN feed for my home?
MFLetou
No, everybody on Directv got it fixed rather quickly. I had the same sort of conversations with the Dish Network people. They got it fixed about an hour an 10 minutes into the game.

Dish switched to the Fox Sports South feed. I haven't seen NESN in forever, it seems, thanks to all these road games/Fox/ESPN--I won't see NESN until Friday. It will be over a week without a NESN telecast. Very sad.

They are definitely taking NESN less this year compared to previous years.

I watched that Hell's Kitchen thing for the first time, mascho, and...well, it caught my attention. When is that on? I'll need something to watch Wed night.

Bill, lets you and me try to get this baseball tv situation fixed. You know, the blackouts, the Fox mess, the whole deal. Lets find a way to do it!

Thanks for the info, and thank god for DirecTV.

I really wish this series fell on a Saturday so I could repeatedly email Fox swearing at them and laughing because I was getting the game no matter WHAT.

I'm getting screwed by Comcast on Wednesday, too. I find it laughable that I live 30 minutes by Metro from RFK and I cannot see more than maybe 20 Nats games a year on TV, when they are nice and decide to put them on UPN 20 (which I think changed its name to something stupid I can't remember right now). Fortunately, two of said games happen to be tonight and tomorrow night, for which I am grateful, although if I were to miss a game, I'd rather it be the one Kyle Snyder is starting. This ridiculous MASN fight with Peter Angelos needs to stop so we can actually get more games on cable. I'll be using my proxy IP to avoid the MASN blackout on MLB.TV on Wednesday (please work!).

Look out for the MASN announcers. They are teh suck. I didn't mind it yesterday because the Yankees were losing, but when Zimmerman hit his home run, they started screaming "YES! GIT OUT! YES, BABY!" This gets really annoying when you're rooting for the other team. And they know nothing about baseball.

They've changed their name because the UPN network merged with WB and created something called "CW".

I personally live fifteen minutes by foot from RFK, and I am in the same predicament as you. It's positively obscene.

And yet neither of them could ever be as bad as Ron Darling was last season.

The radio duo of Charlie Slowes and Dave Jaegler, on the other hand, are as good as any other city's, and in most cases, better.

No kidding. I seriously think he was drunk in the booth on multiple occasions. That is the only explanation I could come up with for the sheer horribleness of his announcing. He's with the Mets network this year, thankfully.

We are really lucky with Remy & Orsillo. They irritate on occasion, but compared to some other local announcers, they're pretty good. I was talking to some Braves fans watching FSN this weekend and they were all begging for a NESN feed.

Well, Im in North Carolina and we don't even get any games except like nation ones vs the yankees on ESPN. It is Really lame. I just get most of my stuff from http://inthegames.net. Basically gives me most info besides redsox.com

The MASN guys weren't quite as bad as I thought they'd be. They were frequently flat out wrong, but they were probably better than your average FSN clone in that they had some personality. They got a little goofy and made some funny cracks. And they were properly reverent of Fenway.

No NESN, but...tolerable tonight at least.
