Game time: 4:05 pm EDT (1:05 pm PDT)
Scheduled Starters: Kason Gabbard (no record) v. Felix Hernandez (8-8, 4.89)
The game will be on FOX.
Seattle Weather: 11 am EDT (8 am PDT) observation at SEA: Wind out of the north at 6 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 13,000 feet, broken clouds at 16,000 feet, overcast layer at 25,000 feet, temperature 69F, DP 59F.

Roof forecast: Maybe?

I'm tickled that Tito is starting to rest Youkilis, Loretta, Lowell, et al. It's a long season, and keeping these guys fresh (and the bench involved) is as important as "lineup stability".

So, has the game started yet? Sportsline says it's a 4:05 start but there's no game content yet. Maybe since it's a Fox game (which prevents me from watching it here in Philly) it's starting a bit late?
...Never mind...it's working now.

Ugh, I forgot that this game is subject to the Fox blackout rules.
Does this mean that MFY fans in CT can't watch their game on YES, since FOX is (hopefully) showing the Sox? I would love to watch baseball on Saturdays, but I refuse to watch the Game of the Week, unless the Sox are on.
Nice job, Lowell!
EDIT - yet I can watch the Fox broadcast of the Cubs/Nats game on mlb.tv. Go figure...

"Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you. "
Not all addition swill work out for the best. Will Kason Gabbard's Red Sox (and MLB) debut be more Jon Lester, or more Jason Johnson. Will he surprise like David Pauley, or will he never manage to catch on like Abe Alvarez. It's up to Gabbard himself to make that distinction, and today is his chance to do it. Regardless of outcome, just give it your all. After all, it was Jefferson who said:
"I do not take a single newspaper, nor read one a month, and I feel myself infinitely the happier for it. "
He may as well have been talking about WEEI and some of the less savory columnists in the Herald and Globe.

Coming into the game Lowell was at .604 OPS post all star break. Obviously a small sample size but so is 1 HR. No one said he wouldn't hit another HR in the 2nd half.

Youkilis was near dead for a couple weeks but he appears to have awakened. Lowell in a pennant race may not fade hitting-wise.

How much longer is DiNardo going to be out for? Was that the claim as to why he was getting lit up every time he took the mound?
What I don't get is why is it ok for a football player to show-boat when they make a tackle or dance when they get a touch-down but a baseball player has to act "professional" when they hit a home run?

Yeah, I agree that pisses me off too when he tries to show boat and only gets a single but what's the problem when he does in fact smack a home run? Pitchers get to strut around pumping their fist screaming but a hitter has to be professional about driving in runs or smacking home runs?

Same line for both pitchers so far... Gabbard allowed 2 more hits and struck 3 less hitters out. But he didn't allow a HR, and is 7-4 GB-FB. A couple of DP's too... I think he's been doing well!

Ted Lilly's pitching well against the Yankees, or they're in a team slump, or both. I like the middle one best.

I was excited for a minute thinking that the US Army anthem talks about "kasons" and that Gabbard could have his own theme song, but then I realized it was spelled "caissons" and that such a theme song usage would probably offend somebody. But I still think it's cool.
As the Kasons go rolling along!
