Game time: 3:35 pm EDT (12:35 pm PDT)
Scheduled starters: Kyle Snyder (2-1, 7.02) v. Dan Haren (6-9, 4.02)
Oakland weather: 8 am PDT (11 am EDT) observation at OAK: Wind out of the north northwest at 8 mph, visibility 6 miles in fog, overcast layer at 600 feet, temperature 62F, DP 58F.
Forecast: The patchy fog should burn off by late morning, but there will be some lingering low stratus because of a deep marine layer off shore. This will keep the bay area cooler than the inland areas. It should be in the upper 70's by game time; we can also expect a seabreeze to develop by mid-afternoon, with winds out of the west at between 10-20 mph. That's blowing OUT.

Wow, I didn't even realize it was a day game today.
Good news: I get to actually get some sleep tonight.
Bad News: I don't get to watch Snyder's 7 IP 1ER and a W outing

I do like the West Coast for day games, since I should be able to catch at least the last hour of the game after I get home. It's almost payback for the lost sleep. Almost.

It seems your wife likes to keep score at the game; that’s always a nice bonus. My girlfriend keeps score at all the games we attend and I’m proud (and maybe a little embarrassed) to say she scores a damn fine game and keeps score
way better than I ever have.

I do not believe this game will be on TV in Oakland, so if there is any feed it all, it will be NESN.

that third strike curveball on Crosby was BEAUTIFUL.
Snyder has really good stuff. Unfortunately I don't see him as becoming important in Boston's future, however he's got a little talent to spare... every now and again he really makes nice pitches. Not enough, but nice nonetheless...

*MOJO* - BOS @ OAK - Cryptozoology Day 3
Beware the long arms of the Kraken. The giant octopus snakes its tentacles, snaring any would be hits it its suction cups. There isn't a line drive or deep fly that is immune to it's tremendous range. With the Kraken as your Centerfielder, pitchers have their jobs made easy, with the Kraken taking care of the space from foul pole to foul pole, as well as 50 feet above the outfield wall, allowing the team to play 6 infielders. Doubles have been made a thing of the past.
Or at least they would be, if the Kraken were real. Which it isn't, which is excellent news for "Mr. Double".

July 9 vs LAA: 6 innings, 8 hits, 4 ER

How do we only have 2 hits thru 5 innings???

Usually? He and Isringhausen were the only STL pitchers we couldn't solve in the 2004 WS. Much was made of all the finesse pitchers STL had, Haren was one of few pitchers STL had who could blow away Sox hitters with fastballs.
Doesn't matter now anyway. Big Hurt just made this game academic.

Except we have to face the Angels this weekend with Weaver and Lackey while the Yanks beat up on Kazmir-less TB. And that's after they smash their personal punching bag, the Rangers, tonight. We could be looking at a deficit by Sunday night.
