Considering we got Craig Wilson, good trade. This has been a good trade deadline for the Yankees. It would have been nice to get a better pitcher than Lidle but obviously that wasnt possible without giving up the farm.

I actually believe that Chacon would have been able to turn it around and be a better pitcher than Ponson, Wright, and Lidle going forward with the season if given the opportunity, but you won't hear any complaints out of me on this trade.

I really can't understand why the Bucs were not able to turn Wilson into a solid pitching prospect or at least a couple of middle level prospects. I think they actually are losing money on this deal which absolutely boggles my mind.

Cash has done well.

Cashman looking like an absolute stud.

I realize none of us here really care, but I wonder what was going through Chacon's mind when he realized the immortal, storied Yankee franchise had gotten about everything they could squeeze out of him, and it was out the door to a sad-sack dreary locale like Pittsburgh and the sorry Pirates.

Somehow I doubt it was something like, "thanks, Mr. Cashman, for rescuing me from the sorry Diamondbacks and making me a true Yankee for a year! I'll never forget you!! Can I keep my Yankee uniform?"

He was traded to the Yankees from Colorado. And hopefully he isn't an idiot, and he thought, "Gee, if I didn't completely suck, maybe I wouldn't have been traded to the Pirates."

If he keeps at this pace, the Yankees got better just by dumping him. Why must PA bend over for Cashman?

Considering the fact that for most players money is at the top of the priority list, I'm sure Chacon is happy that he'll get a chance to pitch regularly for an opportunity at a better contract.

Im confused...did they trade for Wilson Abreu and Lidle or did they just option CJ Henry, Matt Smith, and Shawn Chacon to AAAA Pennsylvania?

You know, I KNEW that, and typed Diamondbacks anyway? I don't know why I get those two teams mixed up. I even looked up his "player card" on ESPN to make sure it was Colorado he came from... 10_1_131.gif

Do you really mean that, or did you forget to leave out a "tongue in cheek" emoticon?

Based on how Chacon has done when he's pitched in 2006, I think he might have been better off without the opportunity.

Guess so...thank god they haven't called up Ryan Howard and Jason Bay yet.

If nothing else, he's probably happy to be facing National League lineups again, even if it's for a lousy team. If he does well for the rest of the year, and today was encouraging in that regard, then he has a shot to do well in free agency.

His service time coming into the season was 4.140, so I think he's eligible for free agency this offseason.
