Thank you again, Mr. Youkilis.

I'm going to check back in the 6th inning RE Beckett

Great to hear Foulke is feeling stiffness in his back, great news for the bullpen

More and more likely he'll retire after the season......

There was only one runner on, but Julio Lugo would have hit a grand slam there. No doubt in my mind. thumbsup.gif

You don't have to be Julio Lugo to hit higher than .235 with a .674 OPS on the road banana.gif

As long as he isn't back here. How does his contract work? If he takes the $3.75M player option, can the Sox then just buy him out for $1.5M?

Owned, bitch!
buffs4444
geez, he's dripping sweat like his head is a faucet.......if he's on the mound in the 8th inning he may seriously die out there. Come on Redman, give up a few bombs and you can hit the showers.....

Geez, the people in the stands look miserable......must really be hot there......

They might just be miserable because they are in Kansas City. That's kind of the look I had when I visited Missouri.

Two things to keep in mind: the Blue Jays were hard after Lugo at the deadline but didn't want to give up a top prospect......and they have money to spend with their new TV revenue rolling in.

I like Lugo. If he were to play for $5M, I'd have no problems......but he's going to get $8-9M over 5 years. That's too much.

Manny K's on ball 4, but balls 2 and 3 were strike 3 in the 9th last night.

I wouldn't give up a top prospect either at the deadline, as I'm perfectly fine with riding it out with AGonz the rest of the season.

I was listening to XM radio the day of the trade deadline and they were saying that Lugo wanted a long term contract @ 9 mil per season with the Rays. No thanks Lugo, I'll take Seabass

I don't think we can buy him out if he exercises the player option. My understanding is that the team has two choices (team option or buyout), and Keith has one (player option). What I don't know is if he can just take the option and sit on the DL all year.....I would imagine he'd have to pass a physical?
MDKing
Nice hustle.

I was just reading this in Simmons' new article:

"27) My bosses won't allow me to say which six announcers I would deport to Eastern Europe, but here are their initials jumbled together backwards: WBMABCMJMTBJ."

So far I have:

Joe Buck
Tim McCarver
Joe Morgan
Chris Berman

Who are the last two? AM and BW are the initials.

Damon has left the game

I highly doubt AM is Al Michaels, but just a guess.

JM could also be John Madden as I was just thinking baseball because its baseball season.
Tyrone Biggums
Who Kidnapped Lopez before his at bat?
redsoxfalcon09
JAVY! FINALLY!
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
Just ARO being ARO.
future consultant
Well 4 runs should be enough for Beckett, right?
redsoxfalcon09
So far he looks to be in great shape...if only he could face the Royals in every start.

2-0 MFYs

OMGZ AGonz is teh rangiest - Lugo is just an error machine!
MDKing
He's keeping the fastball down, which really helps. If only he could always do that.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
Manny's got to get to that quicker. Nice throw, though.

Well sonofabitch.
MDKing
He's actually pitching well and still getting hit.
buffs4444
Stop the bleeding Josh, that's how you mature as a player. Correct your mistakes.....
redsoxfalcon09
2 quick runs...just when we compliment the guy he does this...
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
****ity **** ****.

Oh Jesus Christ...

He's actually pitching well too...

javy javy - tek is not pleased
buffs4444
Nice job, Javy. It's tough to stop the bleeding when you're RIPPING THE DAMNED SCAB OFF!!!!
Bonz
That sucks....
czar
Ugh.

Lopez not good.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
There's the Javy we know and love.

Mother of God that's awful. Did he forget the sign again?
ivebeentruped
I miss Varitek.
MDKing
How the f*** didn't he catch that?
buffs4444
I guess the reports of "he forgets what he called right after he calls for it" were true.

Can we keep Stern if we immediately cut Javy and go with Huckaby and Corky Miller? banghead.gif
Bonz
This is going well...... This team is a middle of the pack team right now... at best That might be giving them too much credit
MrNewEngland
Wow, this sucks.

And I owe you guys an apology. I just got home & was happy to see the sox up 4-0. Beckett had not allowed a hit.

First batter I saw was KC's first hit. Well, you guys know what's happened since then.

F*ck it. I'm going to bed. Can't hurt. I'll see what happened tomorrow.
redsoxfalcon09
It's just a sign of a team pressing too hard and guys who are still getting acclomaded...it's though to watch.
czar
Well I guess that COULD have been a whole lot worse...

I miss Varitek.

Varitek is the best, at least in the AL at blocking pitches at the plate. Sounds like two pitches got by Lopez that Varitek might have stopped? Not watching. Varitek is obviously missed.
buffs4444
One bad inning, that's Josh's M.O.

Luckily, we still have the lead, hopefully he bears down for the next 3 innings.
