Game time: 7:05 pm
Scheduled starters: Adam Loewen (2-3, 5.72) v. David Wells (0-2, 8.05)
Boston weather: Noon observation at BOS: Wind out of the east at 14 mph, visibility greater than 10 miles, scattered clouds at 5,000 feet, temperature 72F, DP 51F.
We've got some cool, crisp air over the area. It will be cool this evening, possibly dipping into the 60's by the time the game is over. The wind, which is out of the east (blowing in) now, will come around from the north (across from left to right, slightly out toward right) by later this afternoon and this evening. The winds could get gusty for a while. We're seeing some cumulus develop in eastern NE. Right now they're scattered, but there could be a broken layer at around 4-5,000 feet by later in the afternoon, and we could see some light rain. There shouldn't be any problem getting the game in.

SoSH poster is saying the team got in ridiculously late this morning thanks to all the new spaz attacks over airport security and that David Wells spent most of yesterday in the airport just trying to get on a flight home.
Yay. This sounds promising.

If I keep my expectations low...

Really starting the sky is falling early here, but Loewen is the kid that one-hit the Yankees into the seventh inning last Saturday, and he's a lefty.
In spite of that, pound his ass!

From Eric Wilbur:
"Gotta imagine Kevin Youkilis is back in the leadoff spot tonight. While Coco Crisp has made Nomar Garciaparra look like Job over the past week, it's worth noting that tonight's Baltimore starter, Canadian rookie Adam Loewen, has 17 walks in the 26 1/3 innings he's pitched since his minor league recall last month. 1 - 2 - 3 for Cory Lidle. WTF is going on, the Midas touch for these GD Yankees? If they brought in Willie Mays Hays he'd probably go 5 for 5.

I love when they bring runners to the bases. I just wish they could send them home more often.
Meanwhile, if Pena hadnt had that injury and was the starting RF, do you think he might be leading mlb in SO? He already has 51

2 for 2 on base for Loretta, getting on in front of Ortiz. BTW, a guy on the SOSH game thread saved and posted a video of Lowell's catch. It's a good one (catch and video).
