Once again, FOX screws the Red Sox fans. I'm in Southern CT, and they're going with the Angels-Yankees game. Which is fine, but then allow NESN to carry the Sox game as it does for all the other games. But NO, the almighty FOX network gets to decide who watches what.

I hate FOX with the intensity of a thousand white-hot suns. enraged.gif

Sorry, no Sox on Fox

A decision to air today's Boston Red Sox game on WB-20, WTXX, and show the New York Yankees game on Fox-61, WTIC-TV, was made by the Fox network, over the objections of its Fox-61 affiliate, according to a station spokesman.

(snip)

"The network said that this Yankees game is a higher priority game nationally," said Mason, who added that the respective opponents - New York is playing host to the Los Angeles Angels and Boston is at Fenway against the Baltimore Orioles - likely influenced its decision.

The Sox/O's won't be on in most other places either

1 P.M. GAME SUMMARIES:
1=Angels @ Yankees - 53% — Dick Stockton, Tim McCarver, Ken Rosenthal
2=Orioles @ Red Sox - 8% — Matt Vasgersian, Jerry Remy
3=Tigers @ White Sox - 24% — Kenny Albert, Lou Piniella

Unless you live in Metro Boston or Baltimore, prepare to be McCarverized.

I'm in SW CT, and it's on WTXX (ch. 20 on Cablevision).

Just got a great surprise. The Fox station in West Palm Beach is carrying the Sox game. This has to be a good sign! love-struck.gif

Manny's 9-11 off Benson, and has a 26 game hitting streak.

Of COURSE, he grounds into a double play. huh.gif

Well the numbers change each time this happens so I'm not sure but it's worked all year for me.

coco reaches and gets the extra base, i like

ouch that one really hurt
johungde
Crisp didn't argue, so I guess he was out.

Remy says Gonzo had time to get Gibbons, so why's that ruled a hit?

Looked like an error to me.
future consultant
things are starting to come unglued after that gonzo bobble

I hate Coco Crisp.

And Snyder isn't starting because...?

God, Terry is truly inept. And we thought we'd seen the last of Grady.
future consultant
just a question, when the Sox scouted Coco, did they not recognize that he has no arm? Isn't that kinda important? I know it's been mentioned all the time here, but it has been glaringly obvious this game.

You know when the white flag has been raised when Taveras is warming up, and the Yankees are leading 5-1. Excellent

They knew he had no arm. I don't think they knew he'd be as bad as he's been in CF, as he was the best (defensive) LF in baseball last year, but he's just been awful any way you slice it.
johungde
Baseball is a funny game. If Gonzalez doesn't make that error (I don't care if they called it a hit) Johnson's on his way to another good inning.

Of course, walking the next batter didn't help.

Then one grounder is a 2 run hit and the next grounder is a DP.

I've been all over Coco this year, but he made a damn good play on that double, getting to the ball quickly and keeping the man from scoring from 2nd base on a double.
Schilldro
Jason Johnson is f-ing terrible. I find it hard to believe this is the best Theo could do. We should have gotten at least someone the caliber of Lieber.
Tyrone Biggums
Last start for JJ please
johungde
The only time I'm glad Crisp is hitting leadoff is when the bottom of the order comes up and I remember Crisp isn't going to be batting.

Yeah Lieber's 1.4 VORP is really worth his contract. Keep in mind that VORP is over 18 starts.
Tyrone Biggums
I want to kill Johnson...rather have Benson...seriously
johungde
Breaks are going against Boston so far, but that 1st inning DP by Manny is looking big right now.
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
I don't want to clout the actual roster thread with some random tangent, but imagine this bad boy next year:

R-Youkilis-3B
L-Johnson-1B
R-Ramirez-LF
L-Ortiz-DH
R-Pena-RF
S-the real Crisp-CF
R-Lugo
S-Varitek
R-Pedroia

I'd shit myself.

Who f'ing cares if he is worth his contract? Keep coddling Theo and his "value" of players..and we are going to see alot more sitting home in October. Where was Theo's "value" of the player when he was pissing MILLLIONS AND MILLIONS out the window signing Clement and Rent-a-wreck? Hmmmm? Lieber is a QUANTUM leap over Jason Johnson and this is the sack of crap Theo is pinning our hopes on? Jason f'ing Johnson?"" Are you serious? Every game is HUGE now..we cannot afford to give games away by starting AAAA pitchers. Apparently Theo is unaware of this.

Lieber is a good pitcher.... Sometimes you have to overpay..especially when circumstances dictate. If it is ONLY money that it will take to improve our chances in the playoffs..and a NEED like a SP... YOU DO IT! BOTTOM LINE! Theo has done an abyssmal job this year and we are ill-prepared to make a run at the playoffs with a jobber like Jason Johnson in the 5 slot....not to mention the lack of good vets in the bullpen..but that is another ball of wax.

Wake-up People..this is NOT 2004. Theo got a free pass last year...how long does he get to do nothing when our team is in contention and has GLARING holes to fill?
