I'm headed to RFK tonight for a Nats-Braves game, and when I come back after spending 2 hours on the Metro with sweaty, drunken fans, I expect to turn on the ESPN ticker and see that we have won. Is that clear?
mascho
Nice. A montage. Very nice.

Offensive slaugter tonight. Time to change my mindset from last night. We're going to get the "W" today.

You did see Verlander, he of the 2.95 ERA, is pitching, right?
WakefieldKnucklehead
Wells is a big game pitcher who continues to look better with each outing.

Let him bring his stuff and he will prevail.

If he wins, would it be in poor taste for the RSN to send him a dozen victory donuts?

Sox are due to bust out. Wells will continue his resurgence. Verlander is due for a bad game (is he, I don't really know).

One win. One win to create a small semblance of momentum before the Yanks come to town. With one win and the possible acquisition of LaTroy Hawkins, the Sox will no doubt play truly inspired baseball for a at least a month and a half.

wooo! shut up thorne and phillips!

nice play by coco.

I am getting sick of that Boston Globe commercial.

The Mirabelli returns game is an instant classic, but they can't show Papelbon's first start, with Manny on trade deadline day?
buffs4444
Are we really breaking away from the game for a faux-advertisement from Gulf Oil? Hopefully that put some extra cash in our bank account so we can go sign Laporta and Anderson. smile.gif
czar
Cory Lidle has given up 8 baserunners through 2 and 2/3 vs. the O's as the Yankees are down 3-0.

But still...

"I can't believe the Sawx didn't get Corey Lidle!!!!!!111111111 Our season is lawssssssttttt!!!!!!!"

hey, does anyone know what happened to talksox.com? It seems like they are having technical difficulties

Why go there when you have us to talk to?

BTW, I'm calling another Crisp hit or two today just so maybe we can start putting an end to the "Crisp can't hit better than .200 against righties!"
SnaveNel
Cory "Mr. I didn't win in Philly because I couldn't get run support" Lidle walked in a run to give the O's a 3-0 lead over the Yanks. That's funny! biggrin.gif
MDKing
We need to score here. We've wasted far too many situations like this this year.

I'll take it, but that was another lackluster offensive performance with RISP.

Verlander is really struggling with his command, we should be able to do some damage.
SnaveNel
maybe things are beginning to "bounce" our way. whistle.gif
MDKing
God, are we afraid of winning? Could we possibly take advantage of a struggling pitcher? Other teams do it to us all the time.

To us.
MDKing
Sweet, Papi was due.
jacksonianmarch
Papi comes through.

BTW, whoever made fun of the Lidle non-move, he has just thrown another QS, 6IP 3ER. Yeah, the sox didnt need him. Theo warren.gif

It would be great if the PA system played "Ice Cream Man" by Van Halen when Lidle walks out to the mound on Monday at Fenway (see Arthur Rhodes comments about how Lidle sat in the clubhouseduring gameshe did not pitch and ate ice cream while surfing the net).

MDKing
Unbelievable.
jacksonianmarch
and the yankees are rallying, 3-2 O's with 2 on and 1 out for the yankees. Solid news for the sox [/sarcasm]
future consultant
damn everything was going right us tonight, Yankees and White Sox are losing and all of a sudden Wells decides to take a page out of Beckett's book
Gabatta
I know there is over a month left in the season. However if they lose tonight, I feel like they might as well start shining up the golf clubs. barf.gif

They really need to sac up and pull this one out.
sweetbasil
Another fine example of Mike Timlin's pitchers throwing well

Thing is, he is giving the yankees exactly what they need while losers like Johnson keep giving the sox huge deficits.

You're quite the negative nancy...welcome to the board. Do you know balla45?
sweetbasil
We'll get Zumaya in the 7th and 8th so we need to do something now
MDKing
Beckett should throw a changeup like Verlander's, which is around 84 mph.

Coco comes through, but why send Cora there?
sweetbasil
Lousy call. Biggest hit of Coco's Sox career thus far.
jacksonianmarch
the sox are lucky that Leyland essentially gave them the game here. Verlander had no right being in that game. The sox will take it though, eh? By the way, Cora was safe.
future consultant
what happened with cora at the plate
thanman2
Still, better than a sharp stick in the eye. We've got the lead, now it's a battle of the bullpens and Papelbon is available. Not a bad place to be...
MDKing
Froemming's been screwing us all night.
Gabatta
Happy 5,000th game you ass. We could have used the insurance run.

OK bullpen, get it DONE!
jacksonianmarch
the fact that wells is still in this game is a testament to how horrible the pen is.
thanman2
Please tell me someone is warm and ready to come in immediately in case Wells puts someone on???
future consultant
he looked pretty good against Pudge, but a short leash is necessary, they've got Hansen out there warming up just in case

good job javy, you could have very easily dropped that
thanman2
I'll be damned...Tito makes a move mid-inning, proactively. This is a rarity!
jacksonianmarch
time for paps?
sweetbasil
QUOTE(jacksonianmarch @ Aug 16 2006, 09:37 PM)

time for paps?

Why? Timlin says he and everyone else in the pen have been throwing well. Seriously, Hansen has displayed that once he sits down, he isnot as effective coming back out....Now a leadoff single....Tito needs to have a very short leash here...
Jermaine Van Buren Fan
STOP.

TAKING.

WMP.

OUT.
jacksonianmarch
he has also been smoking pole for crack if he thinks that.

nothing like watching the pen take some kerosene and a blowtorch to the bridge. You gotta be kidding me.
sweetbasil
LaTroy Hawkins (cleared waivers) pitches out of jam in the Toilet.
