It's official: I have a huge man-crush on Hinske.
Dude, I saw him first. He's mine.
Let's end this inning tied boys. Coco, for the love of God, do not swing at the first pitch.

This is my father yesterday:
"Jesus Christ, what good is this Eric Hinske character? Wasn't he supposed to be good, and he can't even start for the Blue Jays? Why do we need him? Can he pitch? He's useless, we need pitchers!"
This is my father today:
"(the phone rings after Hinske's ground rule double) Hey Joe, I just called to say that if I could have picked just one player to get this August, it would have been Eric Hinske... okay, well I just called to tell you I am the President of the Colorado Springs chapter of the Eric Hinske fan club."
-----
My father is not really that negative, like in the first conversation, he does it mostly as a joke, but it's funny to see his complete 180 on the Eric Hinske subject.

I'm really curious about Coco's power. He just popped up a meatball down the middle. I'm wondering if he's had some injury that we don't know about.

Unbelievable. Could have easily knocked Wang out of the game there by just taking some pitches. How many times have we gotten to him in the 5th or 6th and hes imploded?
Instead with 2nd and 3rd and nobody out it takes him 5 PITCHES to get out of the inning. He was obviously rattled, TAKE SOME PITCHES!

No but to like him over Wily Mo is wrong. He needs to get more AB's in future games though. Lowell needs a rest.

If he keeps hitting like this, Hinske to RF + WMP to CF vs. RHP. The D may take a huge downgrade, but anything to stop CocOut from trying to destroy this offense.

Dissapointing. They're a good team. Period. You can't make silly errors like that.
Well it doesn't matter, I guess. Our offense is going to have to start hitting with guys in scoring position if we want to win this game. We've blown opportunities every inning.

Given that it's Johnson and Snyder, I'd say 6 runs in 7 innings is kind of an achievement. Assuming we get the next out.

Good - so now we get to make sure a key arm like Delcarmen will not be available tonight. I like our chances of getting to Ponson tonight, but I don't like Lester's chances of seeing the 5th inning, unless it is on the clubhouse TV. We needed our best arms for tonight.

Disclaimer: the following is off topic banter
re: Hinske's performance today....
I just had a flash back of Rob Deer's first game as a member of the Sox.....I remember it well because I was at the park that day. I looked up the date, it was 8/23/93, he went 3 for 6 with a HR in his first at bat in a Sox uni.
(box score)Back to the heart attack that is Kyle Snyder....

if manny can hold them here, we have a good chance, 3 runs against the yankee bullpen isn't imossible
edit: okay cancel the comeback

That would require getting key hits with RISP...something that the Sox have seemed to forgotten how to do.
