Exactly what Giambi needs. If the wind was blowing out to right yesterday then Giambi would have had a grand slam off Paps.

If it is worth anything, my daughter told me the Red Sox would win today. Now, she is two years old and doesn't know a darn thing. That being said, each time I have asked her if the Sox would win or lose, she has been right. It is an admittedly small sample size, four games. Here is to hoping I have some sort of psychic handicapper on my hands who will let me win millions betting on the Sox.

All that stands between us and complete, total, historic embarassment, is the remote possibility of David Wells throwing a complete game shutout.
I think our boys will be very glad to escape Boston and fly to the west coast after this game.

Cameron would be my choice. Edmonds is getting older, can't hit LHP this year, and his D is declining. I wanted Reed this past offseason, but he's got AAAA written all over him.

I could see that, especially if Lowell goes to SD.
Reed could still come around, he had a pretty tough year with the injuries. I think he could still come around, and with Jones in CF now, Seattle probably wouldn't be looking for as much as last year.....

Now I might not know too much about the game, but , isn't the idea of a leadoff hitter to get on base?
BobHeise
Aug 21 2006, 01:04 PM
When Youks was struggling a few weeks ago it was worthwhile to move Coco up to leadoff. But whatever value may have been gained from that as a temporary expedient has long since gone by. Why is Tito the only one who can't see that. Coco doesn't get on base. Therefore, Coco should not lead off.
Was there an over/under established for runners LOB. It is Lidle, so theoretically most teams actuall will have baserunners on board. Following that logic I'll say we strand an even dozen.

I don't think so, if an enlightened manager as Francona keeps slotting him to leadoff despite his 1-17 in this series and his awful numbers out of the leadoff spot as opposed to his GREAT numbers (yes, you read it right) from the seventh...

Not in Terry Francona's mind. To him, the leadoff batter's job is to make things happen and be a speedy little pest on the basepaths. Youkilis doesn't fit that description - Crisp does...oh wait, he's never on base. Ever.

I think we should have acquired Gathright. I mean, he's even faster than Crisp... sure he's got even less power and can't get on at all (Coco seems an OBP machine in comparison), but if speed is all that is required, why not?
