you couldnt ask for more out of Snyder. You could ask for more out of the O though. 2 unearned runs off this kid is inexcuseable.
I like Snyder. He's never going to be a stud, but I can see him rounding into a decent 4 or 5 guy.

am I the only visionary who can see Pena constantly improving in every section of his game?
Improved defense, improved plate discipline. Hasn't quite fixed his low and away and his up and inside holes, but he's clearly working on them. And looks so much better in the field...
No you certainly aren't... one of the things that has kept me going these last few days is the thought of Pena playing every day for the rest of the year, doing everything you said and batting behind Manny next year.

Speaking of Yaz....well, someone mentioned him early in this thread....Happy Birthday! At least for a couple more minutes on the east coast. As a birthday present the Sox are going to try really really hard to snap their 5 game losing streak.
Of course it would help if they got a hit with a runner in scoring position....

it's that he still thinks he's a Pawtucket starter. As soon as they'll convince him he's a Boston reliever, he might crash.
On a serious note, this is the third consecutively well pitched game by the Sox into the seventh inning... an improvement, especially given that during this stint we "rediscovered" Gabbard, Snyder, Wells and Foulke, plus obviously Schilling.
If Corey turns out to be good too, well... I'm crossing fingers.

Scott Shields has to be the Angels worst reliever, everytime i see him he is either giving up gopher balls or cannot find the strike zone with a map. I'm very glad he is in there now because Willy Mo can rip one off of him easily

Well, that was a break for Boston. Sco -- however his name is spelled -- the Angels Manager over-manages the situation by taking out Donnolly, then Anderson must have been dozing off not to be able to get to Youks popup.

you're kidding right? Or you just don't watch enough West Coast baseball.
This is one of the best relievers in the AL. Had an ERA below 3 coming into this game, and career wise he's at 2.75, with a K:BB of 4.4, and more than 1 K per IP this year.
He's amazing for a non-closer.
It's just that we own him totally. It happens, but it doesn't make him a bad pitcher, and it's obviously poor judgment to just rate someone on how he does against a particular team. If we had Shields in Boston, we'd have solved 50-70% of our bullpen woes.

I was overexagerating. But, it's not just us who owns him - he is very home run prone to good hitting teams, like the Yankees, check the last series when the Angels played in NY. Also, his ERA has been climbing, during the month of August his ERA has been 4.38.
