Pedroia is the only chance we have

What does that mean?

QUOTE(dra44 @ Aug 22 2006, 10:35 PM)

I know this is WAAAAAAAY of topic, and a little late, but did anyone hear specifics about Millar sending a bag of s**t to Francona?

Yeah, I remember something about that. It was a joke, but something happened that Millar didn't expect. Can't remember all the details.
Caspir
Kapler sucks.

First AB grand slam maybe? I'd settle for a bases clearing double.
Bergs
Great at-bat, Gabe.

Great lineup card, Tito.
JustinShaype
So, can we start calling him Krapler yet?

Nice swing by Pedroia. I think he's gonna be great next year. Hopefully, he'll have to get acquainted with a new manager.

Kapler is a waste of a roster spot. I know he is a "team guy" and all that crap, but he just can't do anything.

Tough luck with Pedroia. OC robbed us damn it!

Should I bother staying up for this crap?

Are you serious?

Hinske is on the bench, as is Cora. Papi can play 1st.

There are better options. Francona sucks.

Edit: Not to mention Murphy, who should be on this roster before Kapler.

Cora? (Alex or Joey)

Darren Lewis?

Yaz? (as in, right now Yaz)

Anyone with a pulse?

Hinske vs LHP:

.132/.250/.237 for an OPS of .487.

Hinske, unbelievably, has been poorer than Kapler against LHP's. So I would go with Cora at second, Loretta at first and Youkilis LF.

Or Ortiz playing in the field, and Javy or Cora or anybody else DH, but Kapler and Hinske.
2bshorty
Pedroia makes a catch! Not exactly complicated, but still, nice job.

With that lineup, the drop off in defense would far outwiegh the gain on offense.

Exactly. And Kapler has been decent vs LHP over his career.

I'm not saying we should be wasting a roster spot on him, I'm just saying....

Yeah, I know. I just hate seeing Kapler up with th ebases loaded. And I'm so sick of Francona that I blame him for shit that isn't really his fault.

Edit: That being said, Kapler's season line vs. LHPis .194/.293/.361 ...and I think it's safe to say that his career is on the downslope.

Double-edit...screwed up & said "career" instead of "season"

Which renders the entire post meaningless. I'll be here all week. Be sure to tip your waitresses.

you mean that placing Ortiz in defense outweighs the fact of having a hitter with a .924 OPS against LHP's (Cora this year) as opposed to .637 (Kapler)?

I'll take my chances with Ortiz at first. And Youks in the outfield. I really don't like Kapler defensively anyway.

And anyway, Cora at second and Loretta spelling first?
jacksonianmarch
Papi is struggling.
SplendidSamuel
Is anybody else listening to the Angels' broadcast, because these announcers are idiots.
jacksonianmarch
this is what happens when you have no Manny. Ortiz becomes human cause he must go after pitches that he would take with Manny behind him.

Yes, we finally catch a break!! Figgins can't catch/hold onto the ball. 2 runs score. 2-1.

He sucks, Cambridge.

Deal with it.

Schilling, Martinez, Lowe, Papi, Manny, Keith Foulke, Johnny Damon and and a walk & a stolen base won it. It was serendipity. It was beautiful. It was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

But I never - not even for one second - thought Francona was an above average manager.

Quite the contrary.
JustinShaype
Was that a good break?

Is that what one looks like?

absolutely. If you know the guy behind you can do it, then you essentially change your one into the size of a very small circle (like the size of a serving plate). If the guy behind you cannot do the job, then you expand your zone. It happens to any great hitter. David knows that if Manny is behind him, he can walk because Manny is great.

hey, wtf happened? Gamecast froze.
