Got range?

Yeah, good defense prevents hits. That would have been a base hit with a defender with less range...

Timlin-style, I'm not calling out names.

But now Pedroia needs to use his bat a little.

36 pitches through 4 innings? Ground ball outs?? First pitch strikes???

I must be hallucinating.
Redcell
So the only pitches WMP takes are strikes? Is that how it works?

Otherwise known as the "Josias Manzanillo maneuver"...

I wonder if Manny still remembers that

why can't crisp get out the way cora has been this game. both are 0-2, but cora has seen like 18 pitches to crisps 3
future consultant
remy is still fascinated with Rene Russo in the stands - did they not see her in "Two For the Money"? she looked awful

i think we are going to have to accept that Crisp and plate discipline are not going to be in the same sentence very often, kind of like accepting Nomar will always swing at the first pitch
rene144
Cora and Crisp have seen 20 pitches between them in their global 0-4.

17 Cora, 3 Crisp.

Let's pray Beckett keeps being astonishing. Weaver only has one more inning probably.

and that's why nomar wasn;t hitting 1st. whatever. the point has been made...

Maybe there was more to this than we thought.

Nomar could actually hit though. I wouldn't mind a leadoff hitter who swings at the 1st pitch a lot if he had a high OBP.
rene144
11 more, 47 pitches through 5 shutout innings. This is Cy Young stuff.

And I guess this goes to all the people who think his fastball doesn't move or that he's overhyped. He has sucked, but his talent is really unbelievable.

We should just make him more consistent. Or get him caught by Mirabelli for good, since he has 13 shutout innings with him behind the plate now.

wasn't arguing that he should have, just saying that some things you just have to accept, no matter how unnerving they are

I really think this is the key, at least he can have confidence that Mirabelli has a much better chance of catching certain pitches
rene144
Crisp on a full count? Ok, he struck out, but this is almost incredible!
Curll
No cable in my dorm sad.gif

We need to buy something to get more channels, including NESN. Fcukers.

Gameday for now.
Redcell
Nice slice through the shift. That's a neat feat for Papi.
MDKing
Ortiz owns your punk ass, Weaver.

Too bad no one else can hit you.
theo's hometown
ok youk. make him throw picthes, and lots of them!

DO'h!
TN Sox Fan
That's two nights in a row that the Angels announcers are claiming that Sox pitchers are getting calls but Angels are not. Lame.
rene144
so Weaver is gone... and Figgins nearly killed Izturis...
future consultant
nice grab by Cora
MDKing
Is this the way Beckett pitched as a Marlin? Cause I've only seen the sucky Sox version.

Come on Beckett, focus.
Redcell
This is where the rubber meets the road.

two of their hits of been those infielders..blah. I hope what I am afraid is gonna happen next doesn;t....
Redcell
That DP was HUGE!!!

**** YEAH!
MDKing
Very nice.

wow!! the exact opposite happened!!
Redcell
I'm liking what I see from "the kid" (Pedrioa). Seems pretty poised for only his third game in the bigs (or do I have that wrong?)
rene144
Weaver gone.

Beckett thanked Mirabelli. Fastball count, everybody knew it, including Guerrero. Sinker came in, instead of the 4-seamer, and it turned into a DP. Beckett is SMOKING... what a pitcher he could be...

EDIT: 62 pitches through 6, with 47 strikes, he's pounding the zone and hasn't walked anybody. Way to go!

Whaddaya think... complete game? Wouldn't *that* be a mind freak.
BobHeise
Wazy to get out of that. A couple more runs now please.
Redcell
Also... for those of you listening to Remy, what is it with him and Rene Russo? He won't shut up about her.
mBiferi24
Please, score some runs
Redcell
Woah! A pitch BEHIND Cora!
JustinShaype
Heya late nighters- just got back from watching UFC at a friends house- is Beckett pitching great, or are the Angels just swinging at everything in sight?
Redcell
Beckett is SMOKIN' HOT tonight.
theo's hometown
ok 'belli, at least give us one of your patented long fly outs!

Beckett has been AMAZING tonight.

C'mon Dougie.

Great AB for Cora. Not so much for the hit (though that was nice), but because it allowed Rex Hudler the opportunity to say:

"Good thing no one was on deck for the Angels there" after the foul line drive. (Uh, yeah, good thing)

And,

"He's gonna be looking to drive something. Slap it." Ok, Rex. That explains your great career power numbers. "Drive" and "slap" are two different things. Go smoke another joint.
Redcell
Cora SAFE!!! Nicely done!

Cora!

Alex Cora is the man.

thank you cabrera/kennedy

Cora's play was HUGE, HUGE!!! Great running. Wow... thank goodness, Dougie really almost got us in trouble.
