Okay Curt, make it a slightly less depressing flight home by shutting out the A's. Can't wait to see the lineup. Any chance Loretta won't be hitting third again?
Ralpho316
Coco just got scratched from the lineup...might be a good thing or a bad thing

Ralpho316
Poor Curt, Im sure hes gonna be great today and that offense is gonna be....not so great. Still gonna start him in the fantasy league

We really need an "W" today very badly MFY is winning 2-0 at the moment, just win it schill! lets kick some ass

Wonder if Coco's poor season would help him clear waivers? Maybe part of the Wells deal.....

A good thing?

He's replaced by GABE KAPLER.

But wait it get's better.

GABE KAPLER-- he who bats... FIFTH!

Lord have mercy...
JMDurron
Doug Mirabelli is batting 6th. I will now light myself on fire. [/Sports Guy]
RedSoxAnni
Coco injured his shoulder making that catch last night...

Does that mean the bench consists of Lopez?

Can Timlin hit?

Coco clear waivers??

Coco is being added to some evergrowing Wells deal that is going to net us some uberprospect??

...

...

Sorry, I had to take a breath from laughing too hard. So when Theo only gets like a B-list prospect for Wells, are we going to call him an idiot?

QUOTE(RedSoxAnni @ Aug 30 2006, 03:35 PM)

Doubt it can be as bad as he's pitched lately...

... or Kapler's for that matter.
D-Lowe
Kapler bats 5th????

Seriously, what is he doing for Francoma that is being played like he is a hitting/fielding machine. Honestly, watching this roadtrip up until Oakland in person was bad enough, but seeing Kapler continuously giving up runs/doing nothing at the plate was what made it truly maddening.

Kapler=nice guy; horrifically bad player at this point.
RedSoxAnni
Well, THAT was quick...

1-2-3
mascho
God, I wonder what's going through Schilling's mind as he takes the hill today. He must know that if he gives up 2 runs this game's pretty much over.

In Terry's defense (for a change) he has no one else to put ANYWHERE.

Though I will admit.

It's going to be kinda comical watching Kapler try to go 6 for 6 today--- then he'd finally be at .200 for the last 2 months.

Yes that's right-- he needs to go 6 for 6.

WHAT?

I can't hear CocOut and Mr. Automatic today in the game thread every time Crisp is at the plate!?!

Screw this, game threads aren't worth it anymore!
rominer
So, if three of the mere six guys in this lineup who are hitting over .200 went down that easily...
FishCake
3,000! banana.gif
rominer
So, I'm not able to watch this one, but from gameday's description (double to Kapler), I'm guessing Kendall's hit should have been either a single or an out?
czar
Congrats on 3000 Schill.
Ralpho316
RISP...this is going to end badly
RedSoxAnni
Hey! We've just scored our second run of the series!

1 down, 5 to go.

Awesome. Ballgame. One run. That's all Schill needs today.
czar
Kapler 1 for 1?

The Sox with a run!?

The apocalypse is nigh! wink.gif
scotian1
Well we have run, now if Schilling can only throw a shutout.
rominer
Like I said, 2 runs, that's all Schill will need today.

We're halfway there.
scotian1
Or how about just 1 run.

I hope we can squeeze 2 runs from our lineup. It won't be easy.
RedSoxAnni
Looks like Schilling didn't get my memo that the wind would be blowing OUT!
scotian1
Zito is showing why I hope the Sox FO makes a serious bid for him in the off season. Failing that I hope they drive the price up on the Yankees.
rominer
I called it. 3 runs. 3 runs wins this game for the Sox.

Why? He's giving up hits and gave up a run to this craptastic line-up.

I'll raise you a run...
chrisgeleven
We are down to 10 position players who can actually take the field...which 9 of them are in the field (or DH).

Which means the immortal Javy Lopez is the one bench bat we have. And he "plays" catcher and 1B.

Cross your fingers we don't ever have to see him today.

I have never seen so many injuries/illnesses in my life.

When he gets that curve breaking like he did at the end of last inning he is pretty much unhittable. Who would you want added to this staff?

Yeah, except we expect to be playoff contenders next year, and every year, and this just a weird anti-holiday, which will end soon.

Can the Wells trade be far behind this game?

ruh roh. double to swisher and another run in. i put the odds of this lineup scoring 5 runs at 25 to 1.

76 pitches and 4 runs given up, not one of his best that is for sure. I'm calling it now, barring injury, Oakland is going to represent the AL in the World Series. I'm not saying this because they are on the verge of sweeping our bad news bears lineup, but because they have a team that consists of excellent starting pitching, timely hitting and a strong bullpen.

They've got to trade him before midnight tomorrow in order for him to be on a post-season roster, so it ought to be an interesting 24 hours.

Detroit V. Dodgers WS (If they get Wells)

Good at least to see Pedroia get an extra base hit.

Zito is cruising against our Triple A team. Well, we couldn't expect anything. The season is over, you can see Schilling would like to pitch good but he just doesn't have any fire left or motivation. We are done and the players know it. Youk coming in a moment late at second was a perfect image of the situation of our team, he really looked dissapointed and beaten up....

One thing is for sure. The Sox hype machine did a number on Pedroia. His swing is average at best.

He's a player that for the next 5 years will be compared to Cano as the MFYs second baseman. And this will be another position where the MFYs have a better player. The worst part is they're both home grown. It appears our $100m dollar developmental machine can't even grow prospects as well as the MFYs.
