OK, let's salvage some pride this season and avenge the sweep!

I would like to see Ortiz move a cuple of homers closer to Foxx's record as well.

The lineup Francona put out there tonight is the one I have been waiting for for quite awhile, Youk in the lead-off spot and Pena in right. Not crazy about Lowell at the 5 spot, but with the way he played during the stretch without Ortiz and Manny, maybe it is not such a bad idea after all. Let's hope Jarvis can keep it close and go for 6 innings.
SFFM38
alright lets go bosox.gif This weekend will tell me alot about whatever to give up for playoffs hopes! WE REALLY NEED TO SWEEP THEM!!! I have been positive and all ( YES STILL )
rominer
I'm not too optimistic. I mean, I was this morning. Not now, though. It's going to be tough to make a run without Javy Lopez.
SFFM38
rominer, which would you rather to see belli or lopez in the line up ?

Well, if Javy Lopez's .485 OPS with the Sox is any indicator, I'd rather see him in the lineup.

For the Royals, that is.

I was being sarcastic before. thumbsup.gif

Now that we're done playing the NL, though, Lopez will be missed. We can no longer count on Josh Beckett and his 1 HR, 3 RBI in the lineup. Javy's 0 HR, 4 RBI was the closest thing we had.

SFFM38
CRAP banghead.gif I didnt realize it was odalis perez which is also LHP, I just forgot about the trade deal BLAH!
future consultant
this making sub-par pitching look like cy young candidates for a day is for the birds man, still, we are lucky jarvais was able to get out of that first inning jam
rominer
What the hell? Odalis Perez is on pace for like 42 Ks in this game. Is it 2002?
SFFM38
YES!!! ORTIZ 2 RBIs triple!! nice to see that, and whos hurt now??? dare I ask? gameday says injury delayed ???
rominer

There are actually several players, both on the field and in the dugout, who have fallen and can't get up from laughing so hard at the sight of David Ortiz hitting a triple.

Could be awhile before they all get the medical attention they need.
future consultant
our pitching is awesome at giving runs right back
rominer

In this case, though, I think we've got to cut them some slack.

It's not easy when you're up against the high octane Kansas City Royals.
SFFM38
MFY is getting slaugthered by Balitmore 8-2 and its only in 3rd inning!!
future consultant
8 K's through 4, wow

corey is warming up, thank goodness dinardo isn't up. yet

yeah, jarvis, that isn't quite what we were looking for there
rominer
Very impressive outing here for Jarvis. I hope Javy Lopez was the PTBNL in that trade.
jacksonianmarch
I dont get why he got Jarvis. The guy is old and terrible, and he has not changed any minds. I dont get why the sox just didnt bring up anybody from AAA. They would be better off.

Pauley is on the 60 day DL. Abe Alvarez is on the DL, according to the PawSox site.

Who else would they have called up? Why start the MLB service time clock on someone who isn't ready, just so they can pitch some garbage time games? They already dumped Jason Johnson. Who else was out there on the scrap heap?

Too friggin funny.

why not bring up some kids to get some MLB experience for a month in garbage time? It could help their development. Now I have a question. If a guy is brought up and starts one game, then gets demoted again, does the clock keep ticking? I am not sure. If not, then there is no reason why the sox dont just bring up one of the young kids and give them a shot.
jacksonianmarch
6th inning is a microcosm of this season. 2nd and 3rd, no outs, down 2 and the sox blow it.

you made laugh, so I thank you for that, I was upset and all I mean its fricking Royals, if you had asked me if I had thought sox pitching staff would give up 15 hits and 8 runs, I would have said NO WAY! I just can't believe this crap
SnaveNel
How sad. Nobody is here. sad.gif

rally caps on, we are only down by 2 now

the royals pen is doing everything it can to get us back in this

There is a Papi coming to the plate here. And he's a big one.
future consultant
Papi has been waiting for a situation like this for quite awhile I imagine, i cannot believe Bell is going to go to a guy like Jimmy Gobble in a situation like this
rominer
WHO WANTS TURKEY?

i'd take my chances with manny, his swings haven't looked too good tonight

no way do you allow one of your scrubby relievers challenge Ortiz, he has hit the ball well tonight, Manny on the other hand got lucky and got a a seeing eye single. Dumb move there and the Royals are likely going to pay for it, but then again, they still have to face our pen
D-Lowe
Ortiz...I love this guy. smile.gif
SFFM38
WOW! when was the last time we scored 9 times in a single game??? amazing!!! now my aderanline is getting pumped up, damn you SOX LOL however, Timlin will probably try to close it out! FINGER CROSSES!! warren.gif

I fear Tito will replace Wily Mo with Kapler in the 9th.

THERE IS A PULSE ( weak ) for playoff hopes!! LETS GO!!! one game at a time!!!! LETS CLOSE IT OUT 3 outs NOW!!!
rominer
That was pretty sweet watching Rosie O'Donnell just split like an amoeba into Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba making out with each other.

It's all about the 8th inning tonight.
future consultant
and there is Kapler, Cora, a defensive upgrade to Gonzo? Timlin looks decent - ooops spoke too soon there
rominer
QUOTE(future consultant @ Sep 8 2006, 07:31 PM)

A defensive upgrade to putting pinch hitter Carlos Pena at SS.

Timlin, do not let Rosie O back into the picture here. I'm begging you.

didn't catch that switch, yep, Pena likely wouldn't work at SS

that looked like Coco coming out of the KC dugout for a second
D-Lowe
Look, I can't argue with Tito about bringing in Timlin given the state of our bullpen, but why, oh why, bring in Kapler in a 1 run game?!?!?!?! Does Tito ever learn?????
If game is tied or we losing by one, it's great to know Kapler will be an easy out. Dumb ass. We need to DFA this guy so Francoma is tempted to use him anymore.

Arg - vintage timlin . . . vintage in that he's old and can't get anyone out
