The game is delayed until around 7:20. It just stopped raining, and they are working on the field.

Oh, crickets! I was going to post 'thanks a lot, I'm on my way out to dinner'.

What are the Sox going to do next year with all these newfound pitchers? Wait and see, that's what.

Damn, bases loaded!

This is a game thread. Of course you're not supposed to post. Haven't you seen the last few game threads?

as per usual V-Tek chokes for bases loaded situtations! banghead.gif

EDIT: it proves how much our pitching do really STINKS due to the fact that Millar already has 2 hits off us!!

Well, that was a nice catch by Markakis earlier in the inning...

Need more baserunners. That's my contribution for the night.
jacksonianmarch
Do you root for them to win or root for them to lose and get a better draft pick? Dilemma.
gerky
At this point, I'd just like to see more Breslow, Corey, Dinardo, Gabbard, Hansen, Lopez, Pedroia, C. Pena, Murphy and Wily Mo appearances.

But Loretta plates Crisp and the Sox tie it up.

Hansen pitched a scoreless inning. If he comes back to pitch one more it'll be agood test--he's had a hard time stringing two good innings together at the major league level.

There's a reason why I was yelling, "That was a strike!" when the ump called ball 4 for Ortiz.

Not happening. Here comes Foulke.

Inching toward page 2 of the thread....

For the past month I've just been in shock. It's incredible how everything feels like has fallen into pieces. And the hardest part is trying to find someone to blame, because every complaint is based on supositions. "What if..." this and that.

I guess the one to blame, if not nobody, is everybody. The injuries happened, but this team still had a chance. The thing that kills us is the negativity and that agressive approach the media and even some fans make. I gotta admit that last season I always felt like the season was on the line and it all depended on some player to have a little problem and the team would fall down the stairs like this year.
SFFM38
Foulke is FA after this season is done, correct? I believe it is , its 3rd year of his contract, unless we can get him for cheap for next year, I dont see Foulke coming back to bosox.gif

According to http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/2004/12/boston-red-sox.html

07:$7.5M club option ($1.5M buyout) or $3.75M player option

Don't know how the buyout vs. player option works - but given the '05-'06 Foulke has had, I would expect him to exercise his option. I don't see him getting $3.75 million anywhere else.

Now what are the odds that Timlin can hold this?

About as good as I thought the odds were of Chen not giving up a grand slam.

The odds have been defied once already. Anything is possible.

That was an incredibly bad jump on that ball by Kapler. That should have been an out.
ivebeentruped
Somewhere around zero. I'm glad this game doesn't mean a damn thing.

Goddammit Kapler. Now, Mora woulda been able to take home if Crisp was out there...
BobHeise
Two old Sox in a key situation--can Timlin induce the ground ball from Millar for a game-ending double play?
ivebeentruped
Wow. That actually worked.

Dirty Water.
rominer
Is it retro night at Camden Yards, or something?

Mike Timlin...gets a GROUND BALL! Mike Timlin...GETS OUT OF A JAM.

It's like old times.

Ooops, was following on GameDay and thought Millar was coming up instead of on deck. But the result was the same--we'll take a twin killing from Hernandez.

Timlin saves!

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that I don't think Eck thinks particularly highly of Lenny DiNardo's pitching ability.
