Kinda sums things up nicely, doesn't it?

So....I've made individual posts longer than this game thread.

This is at, what, a post per inning? I bet Manny has spoken to the press this year more times than we've posted in this thread.

And yet, when David Ortiz hits home runs in his next two ABs...

Well, we'll see.
RedSoxAnni

50!

I called it.

We'll see if the lead holds, or if Papi gets another AB tonight to complete the prediction (and prove my point about the game thread).
WakefieldKnucklehead
There were several tickets on sale for this game at work on our market e-mailias. I do not think they got sold.

Some one else was trying to dump some patriots tickets, and they were gone in a 3 shakes of a lambs tail.

Fickle people, they do like the winners.
Bergs
Boy, that chopper back to Foulke looked familiar, eh?

edit: Some thoughts on the barren game threads:

These things are therapy for me. When there's a horrible decision that pisses me off, when there's a great play I want to share with other Red Sox fans, when the tension is high, that's when the game threads are vital for me. We're out of it. That's OK, and I've come to grips with it. Which means ---- HOLD IT ---- WHAT THE F*CK WAS NIXON DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ---

sorry.

Anyway, my point is that no one is a lesser fan for their absence in the game threads once the season is doomed.
WakefieldKnucklehead
Nice inning for Foulke there, save for that botched pick off. Could not tell if that was his fault though. Sort of look like the runner unintentionally affected the catch.

I was serioulsy thinking the same thing. I got a battery operated bottle opener that alternately plays the NESN calls for the final outs of the 2004 ALDS and WS each time you open a bottle with it. I could hear it echoing in my head on that play.

No kidding. I was just saying that to someone.
WakefieldKnucklehead
Whoops. I wonder what Trot/1b coach were thinking?

Wasn't someone's sign-on around here trot waddles?
unholycow
Bonser has reverse splits, so Tito loaded the lineup with lefties. Hmmm

Agreed. You know its kind of nice in a way with out so much traffic. Much less noise here to deal with. I never posted much when there were 20 posts an inning.
Somehow it feels more pure to post here knowing they are already out of it.

Sheesh, that was probably Hansen's last chance to keep his era below 6.00 for the year. Hard to believe he was so ballyhooed when drafted last year. Hope he can regroup in the winter.

Who ever thought the word "ballyhoo" would appear in such a barren game thread?

I have like 10 of them.

So, not an AB right there, so technically my prediction is still intact.

Toronto won, so if the Sox lose this one, the Yankees get to back into the division win.

I can't believe this team is allowing itself to lose to a guy named Boof.

There had best be a comeback in the works for the 9th inning.

That's the downside of no longer living in New England, I guess. All kinds of White Sox & Cubs shit EVERYWHERE, though....

But thanks for the link; I'm definately getting one of those puppies.
SFFM38
Well thats it, MFY god damn roaches has clinched for 9th straight time!! this just blows banghead.gif and our bullpen gave up 7 runs total ( 8th and 9th inning ) is just unacceptable, period! Theo, FIX IT!!!!!!!!!!! ( 2007 )

You poor bastard.
I wonder what the Cubs Talking Bottle Opener says. Some memorable radio call from a recent memorable Cubs moment, I'd bet.

QUOTE
"It's a pop up behind third. The Cubs are five outs from the world series. Alou is camped under it and"
"Oh-nooooooooooo!! Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!"
"Some fan knocked the ball out of Alou's glove!"
"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!"
"Some fan in an authentic Cubs jacket and Cubs hat - available at Cubs World, 12 locations including one near you - knocked the ball out of Alou's glove."
"Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!"
"Well that's it. Even though we have a lead in this game and a lead in the series, I say we just tank the whole thing right now and harass this guy, this freaking yuppie scum idiot, for the rest of his life."
"I say we go pelt him with beer bottles."
"That's a good idea. Let's go.

Hansen's too good to be pitching in the minors. That's why he signed to a ML contract.

That blows. Guess the losing didn't stop.

At this point, I'm tempted to hope that the Sox fall into third place, so that at least we don't have to listen to the constant chatter about the Sox perennially finishing second to the MFY.

That's why I'm mocking the fact that he wanted a ML contract right after college. Congradulations Hansen, keep this up and it might be your last.

I hope Theo doesn't destroy this kid though and let him get a full season at AAA as a starter.
kylexray
It is too bad his 50th could not have come in a win. I know it doesn't make much difference now and won't in the future, but it would have been cool if the bullpen could have held it down and 50 was a winning homer.
