RedSoxAnni
Game time: 4:07 pm

Scheduled starters: Devern Hansack (no record) v. A.J. Burnett (8-8, 3.97)

The game WILL be on NESN. That's what Jerry Remy said last night, even though the NESN schedule says there will be POKER on at 4 pm.

Toronto weather: 9 am observation at CYYZ: Wind out of the southwest at 5 mph, visibility 3 miles in light rain, broken clouds at 800 feet, overcast at 1,300 feet, temperature 65F, DP 63F

Forecast: Showers this morning, but it will start to clear this afternoon, with some sunny periods. It will be in the low to mid 70's by game time, and the winds will be out of the west to southwest at around 10-15 mph. There's a chance of showers later in the evening.

Roof Forecast: I'll go with closed....

Since it's a 4 oclock start NESN will probably be blacked out on Directv outside of New England. I would have liked to see Hansacks' debut;.

What's the deal with Hansack? I looked up his stats on thebaseballcube, and as far as I can tell he spent two years in the Astros' organization, but was out of baseball for three years before this season? What was he doing, and where did he come from? He's got great stats at Portland this year.
Cudahy
Directv now thinks the game starts at 7pm so maybe they'll forget to black it out.

OK, I'll admit that I've never in my life heard of Devern Hansack. Gotta like the name, though. Still, for today, he is my absolute favorite starting pitcher. Go get 'em, Devern!

BTW - get yourself a good nickname, kid (is he a kid?). I suppose just calling him "Shirley" would be mean. Perhaps "Handsome Hansack" would work - is he? If so, perhaps the derivative of H2 would work, or moving further to just plain old "O." Which means he's already two-thirds of the way to water, preferably the dirty kind. That's it! We can call him "water," used like other people use "money." The guy is water. I like it... Win for us, water!

On the other hand, I've heard of A.J. Burnett. Jays signed him for megabucks last winter. He won't get ten wins this season. Yeah, that was a great signing.

Let's see: Beckett went 8 on Thursday; Tavarez went 9 on Friday. Guess Water will go 10 today. How about if Pedroia homers to put us ahead to stay (presumably in the 10th).

Or forget all of the above and just win. For the heck of it.

Here's a good article on Hansack. I posted it in the Minor League News Links on August 27.

Dogs have a pitcher flying high but under the radar

directv is blacking it out because they think it's RedSox Rewind.
Since they think the Pregame starts at 6 we might see the last 3 innings.
SoxAroundTheWorld
Hmm. Thought Ped would wait until the 10th to hit his dinger. Still, no complaints. Let's give Water a big lead before he throws his first pitch!

Time for bed. Gotta say I like what Water's produced so far today. Maybe, just maybe, we got lucky with this one...!

SATW, some people just don't get no respect. You post from halfway around the world, or somewhere, and get to talk to yourself.

Seeing as I obviously jinxed Water, I don't deserve any. Sleep is the answer. Sleep is always the answer!

Why not? Do you see some insidious innuendo or something?
