That's the 2006 FA tracker! It's kind of old.

Avoiding FA is everyones favorite "kinda sorta maybe closer?"

QUOTE
According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, Joel Pineiro's two-year deal with the Cardinals is worth $13 million.
Amazing what two months of quality pitching can do for a free agent these days. Pineiro hasn't had a quality year since 2003, and prior to August and September, he hadn't even had a solid run of starts since May and June of 2004. If the Cardinals actually think they know what they're getting here, they're crazy. It still might work out, but it's scary to think that this is all that $13 million buys. Kyle Lohse is drooling in anticipation of the winter meetings.

Wait-- $13 million?

Man, this is just the most recent signal that the Sox should try their hardest to avoid free agency for pitchers...the market keeps getting more out of control every year.

I mean, two mediocre months gets you $13 MM? I get the feeling that Gil Meche's contract could look decent by the end of the off season.

so might Schilling's demands.

NEW YORK (AP) — Tom Glavine returned to the Atlanta Braves, agreeing Sunday to an $8 million, one-year contract that brings him back to his former team.
The agreement between the two-time NL Cy Young Award winner and the Braves was revealed by a person familiar with the deal who spoke on condition of anonymity because the team has not yet announced it.
Glavine already has taken a physical for the Braves, the person said.

Good question - left field, maybe? Or right, with Vlad moving to left?

From what I have read, he will DH and split time in the corner outfield spots. Seems like as waste of defense to me. Especially when you consider that Anderson's defensive skils have eroded significantly.

There is no way I'd move Vlad. I know his knees are not great, but he can still sling lasers to the plate.

If you add Willits and Rivera into the mix, it makes it even more difficult to figure. It would appear that they are planning to move somebody.

Preliminary agreement would give Jones $36.2 million

QUOTE
The Gold Glove center fielder and the Dodgers reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday night on a $36.2 million, two-year contract that gives him the fifth-highest average salary in the major leagues.

A five-time All-Star, Jones will receive a $12.2 million signing bonus, of which $5.1 million is payable next year, $2.1 million in 2009 and $5 million in 2010. He well get salaries of $9 million next year and $15 million in 2009, and also will receive a no-trade clause.

Rotoworld is speculating that the Dodgers will now trade either Kemp or Either for a top starting pitcher or third baseman. I don't see them getting a top starting pitcher unless they package one of them with some other prospects.

A's trade Nick Swisher to ChiSox for three "top" prospects (OF Ryan Sweeney, LHP Gio Gonzalez, RHP Fautino de los Santos)!!

"Dude, it's unbelievable," A's third baseman Eric Chavez said with a laugh. "I was like, 'Well, we are going young. Wait.....Swisher IS young.'

"We're going with the youth movement, baby. At least Billy is commited to it. He's not half-assing it."

Atlanta Journal-Constitution reporting the Braves will take Mark Kotsay to replace Andruw Jones in exchange for prospect, Joey Devine. Of course, as always, it is pending the passing of a physical. My dad, a Braves fan, said Devine just never showed the potential the Braves thought he had. Kotsay has a bad back. Advantage: PUSH!
