Gee, I wonder if this game thread will garner any attention....
rominer
Got the Tivo fired up for this one.

I'm waiting to see if it's actually possible to log in to MLB TV today...have a feeling there might be one or two people trying to connect at the same time...
RedSoxAnni
If anyone can find out who BC's starting pitcher will be, please post it.

I'll be able to get the lineups after the game has started...

Caspir
I bought beer for this. Well, really I just wanted an excuse to drink, but whatever. Couldn't find Asahi though. I only went to a small store.
Ralpho316
Do they sell Asahi at bigger liquor stores?

I love the fact its only on for an hour
rominer
I am feeling giddy. I am having a hard time concentrating today.

Do I have AADD? Have I had too much coffee?

Or is something else going on today?
macd23
Anyone watching on NESN HD having sound issues? Mine keeps making nasty little noises and its hurting my ears and speakers. I am watching on regular nesn for now.

Watching on Comcast.

Send him back to Japan.
gumbo
Please provide a pitch by pitch for those of us with no access to the game. I want to know speeds and pitch choices and results for every one of Dice-K's pitches. Along with color analysis. smile.gif
Caspir
Oh man, what a waste of money. He gave up a double to a college hitter. It's gonna be a long season.
rominer
Dice......K
Caspir
First strike out with the Sox, followed by the second. Inning over, runner stranded at third. Boo yah.
macd23
Cy Young.

Nice solid double for Pedroia.

Oh, hell yeah. They've already started construction on a whole new wing for him in Cooperstown.

I have NESN so I am watching live. MLB.com is carrying it though.

baseballchannel.tv (link on MLB front page) is showing the NESN feed when Matsuzaka is pitching.
Caspir
Man he looks good.

I'd hit it.

macd23
Dice K looking great. Lots of strikes.
acr
Love how NESN's cameras were focused on Matsuzaka-san while Bailey hit the homer.

His reaction was great.
rominer
Way back. Waaaaaaay back.

How much does Moss weigh? Looks like a stiff breeze would knock him out of the basepaths. He makes David Murphy look like David Wells.
rominer
6'0", 180 lbs. according to the 40 man roster on the Sox web site.

6'0 180 lbs according to SoxProspects.

Edit- Screw you rominer.
acr
Rogers never got tagged on the dropped strikeout...

Nice triple for Ellsbury, showing off that speed. I have to say that if they were facing a major league defense, that *might* get cut off and Pedroia's double in the first is caught
rominer
Too bad Ellsbury can't run. That could have been an inside the park home run.

Brandon and Kate Moss, seperated at birth?
GreenMountainSoxFan
MLB.com is now carrying the NESN feed (for those with MLB.tv), so no need to watch the talk radio crap on baseballchannel.tv.

The link is above the scoreboard for the game here

"Kate Moss: snorting her weight in coke since 1985"
Caspir
Matsuzaka on his outing. "I wanted to see where I stand... It was so so."

"I spoke to Varitek before the game, and he told me this umpire is from another country. So after I pitched he told me some of my pitches should be strikes in standard American leagues."

"We selected pitches as we went through the game rather than planning them ahead."

Edit- That's all paraphrased, but almost exact.
acr
These interviews through translators are so awkward. It's actuslly rather hilarious.

Crap, just got back from class and missed Dice-K. Oh, well, that's what archives are for.

Now that Dice-K's out of the game, I'm kinda rooting for BC, though. Am I nuts?

I've had 10 ibuprofen in the last 12 hours. The only thing talking is my drug overdose. And it STILL hurts.

Oh, man, NESN cut it off! Screw them.
rominer
The radio says that Julian Tavarez looked good against the college kids.

Excuse me. "Pitched well."

Although, it was radio. Tavarez looks great on radio.
RedSoxAnni
The new radio guy has me longing for the return of Jerry Trupiano. "Waaaayback" is better than "boring".

Yes.

It might be a long year knowing that Castiglione is the charismatic one in the booth.
Imgran
Nick DeBarr looked sharp against college competition. 2 good innings from the guy with 4 k's.

Means nothing, I know, but I thought that the Rule 5 guy deserved some a attention since he might be on the roster like Dinardo was in '04.

They're going to replay tonight's Matsuzaka outing tomorrow at 4pm on NESN. Just FYi.....

Does anyone have a box score from the game? My friends boyfriend is on the team but I want to know if he played/how he did.
RedSoxAnni
MLB doesn't keep boxscores for the exhibition games against college teams, as they are not "Grapefruit League games". The Globe had a box score in print this morning, but it is not on-line so I can't link it.

Anni
fenwayfrank34
Oh, I should have figured. I'll go look in the Globe, thanks.

The replay of Daisuke's outing is on NESN right now.

I was able to find a boxscore in a format I can copy here!
