Kyle Snyder -- SP

Snyder gave up two bombs in the first, and the Jays have fielded a team of scrubs...

Kyle gives up two homers in the first inning to career minor-leaguers. I guess he won't be the closer.

Where's Imgram? I'm awaiting the response to Snyder's performance thus far.

Not a bad game. Hopefully we can hold the Jays and win it.

WE WIN! I'm impressed by Jeff Bailey this spring. bosox.gif

Can you expand on this? Final score? Dramatics?

Sure lol. Toronto got off to a 2-0 lead in the first when Snyder gave up two solo HRs to Minor Leaguers. After Snyder Tavarez came in and pitched excellent. He pitched two innings I think giving up no hits. After Tavarez was taken out Pinero was put in and he pitched very good as well. No runs 1 hit.

The offense was stail for a large part of the game but in the fourth Manny was HBP on his hand (he's okay though) then Drew drove him in on a tripple. I guess we scored another run in the fourth but I was getting a soda when it happend so IDK what the details on it were.

In the top of the ninth the Blue Jays had two men on with two outs and there was a grounder hit to the second baseman (I would name him but the fog of spring training was pretty thick especially with today being a split squad game)
and Blue Jay runner John Hatig tried to score but he was out by a mile.

And finally in the ninth with a runner on second Jeff Bailey hit a fly ball out to the warning track and the ball bounced out of the outfielders glove to give the Sox a 3-2 win.

Hope that explains things.

Thanks. I didn't need quite that level, but more is better.

That sort of thing is going to happen with Snyder when he starts. Beats the heck out of me why they're trying to use him as a starter when he's almost exactly the kind of guy they have with Pineiro --better in a relief role.

Feather in Julian's cap. Good outing.

Breslow had a great game. I'd love to see him make a longshot bid for that last roster spot or even push Romero out if Okaji is seen as enough of a lefty-killer for the team's needs.

KJax looked fantastic, and Big Edgar put up a 0. That says good things about our bullpen of the future.

You know, it's a funny thing. I'd have to look it up, but I'm not sure i can recall very many games at all where Kyle Snyder was caught by Jason Varitek For the most part Snyder was here when Tek was not. I wonder if that makes a difference at all. But I'm pretty sure that a lot of his worst botches were caught by Mirabelli and Lopez.

The two games I'm pretty sure he WAS caught by Tek were his Sox debut (where he looked pretty good against a National League team) and that game in Seattle where he was decent. I think Tek might have caught his great game in the Bronx after it was all over but I can't swear to that.
Imgran
OK, I checked back through the game log, and I'm dead wrong. In fact, he seemed to do better when he was caught by Mirabelli -- surprise, surprise, nearly all of his better performances were opposite Mirabelli in the battery.

Kyle Snyder, ERA 4.15, 5 K, 2 BB in 4.1 IP

Not exactly terrible, wouldn't you say? It's actually pretty close to his FIP from last year.

Is that Snyder's overall numbers?
Imgran
Yep. That's his spring numbers according to MLB.com.

As I said, his outing didn't really hurt anything about his chances. If he ever had a shot, he still has a shot.

4.1 IP is a very SSS, especially in ST.
Imgran
Course. I agree completely. But when the consensus is a guy sucks and the best available numbers say he's doing OK, I'm going to bring that up.

Until his next outing, Snyder's still worth a look. What happens from there is, as always, up to what happens with him on the mound.
thanman2
The only consensus here regarding Kyle Snyder is that you are obsessed with him. There is no consensus that he "sucks".

Really.
