I had a thought about something I'd like to do for Father's Day, but need a hand. The First Sox Game thread reminded me about the time myself, my uncle, and my father attended my first Sox game, which happened to be the 1986 AL East clinching game against the Toronto Blue Jays (9/28/86). I would LOVE to give video of the original broadcast to my father and my uncle as a gift. I have seen tapes of the radio broadcast for sale, and I have seen this very game rebroadcast on Classic Sports (just happened upon it one day - if I knew it would be on I would have taped it). I am hoping that someone knows where I may be able to find a copy of the game broadcast, or if anyone has it buried on a VHS somewhere - I can convert it to DVD, so all I need is the game on some medium and I can do the rest. PLEASE it would mean a lot to me if anyone can point me in the right direction!

(mods - I separated this from the "First Sox Game" thread hoping to generate more views. If there is a better place for this request, then please merge it there.)

Gonna try this again. My mission last season was a failure, but if I get an earlier start on it this season, maybe I'll luck out? Still trying to find a video broadcast of that game. Maybe someone has it tucked away somewhere?

Have you tried contacting the Red Sox directly?

Repeat after me...

"BigSlick is the F'ing man!!!!!"

Then click the link below. It's the 4th or 5th game down.

Oldtimesports.net

Edit: I think you need to regster and then email them to get a copy. I'm not sure of the process though.

Edit #2 After you click the link you'll need to re-enter the search criteria.

BigSlick is the F'ing man!!!!!

I knew if I tried hard enough, I would eventually come across it, it was a pretty big deal at the time. This is great place to start. THANK YOU!

Lockland, I tried the Sox, NESN, everything. No one had any answers, which sucked because I saw this game on Classic Sports before.

You're a helluva good son. Now, can you find me film from a Sunday doubleheader in the early fifties when Ted Williams hit three homers in a Sunday doubleheader, one off Pesky's Pole, and another landed I swear up somewhere near the Red Seat? The third was a generic RF bullpen homer. Just kidding (about finding film from that day), but that is nice for your father. Didn't Buckner catch a popup at first base for the last out in that '86 East clincher?

And that was when you knew once and for all that the guy had no bones left in his ankles. He was jumping up and down like a little kid...a little cripple kid. Hang time? Not so much.

I remember I had a dream when I was a kid that was a replay of that final out...but Don Baylor was playing first base.

You all needed to know that.
