Ok, so I have the premium package, and I have to say, the 700k feed was actually looking pretty good. I also downloaded the Mosaic feature where you can watch up to 6 games at once, and its pretty cool, and you actually get speeds faster then 700k apparently .... although I am having some problems with it, and MLB.TV in general.

If I watch on my desktop PC I have no connectivity issues whatsoever - however, when I watch on my laptop via wireless access, it seems I can only watch the games in a small window - as soon as I try and full screen it, it freezes up ... Anyone else have these issues, or a solution?

Also, Mosaic has a feature where you can load in a fantasy lineup, and the system alerts you when your guys are up, or pitching or whatever - however, when I try and enter anyone in, it seems like it never saves the lineup and I just get random alerts. Anyone else with issues?
MakeMineMoxie
I signed up for one month of Premium yesterday morning. Was on hold with MLB Customer Service for about 1 1/2 hours to get my access straighted out but once that was done, I was impressed. The higher speed was what got me to try it. I could not stand watching the feed freeze every few minutes or loose the audio so the 700 K is worth the extra money. I had only a few momentary freezes. I'm on a PC at work and an Intel iMac at home and both ran well. The picture quality is acceptable, even on full screen.

I downloaded Mosaic at home and I like it more than I thought I would. It is a standalone application and does not require you to be signed onto MLB.com in a browser. It will be nice to follow all those late-season games with post-season implications but for most of the season, I'll probably just watch the Sox from the MLB site.

So, am I the only one having issues watching a single game using Mosaic?
raylaw21
NJ check out this site.

http://mosaic.mlblogs.com/

It seem like they will update the mosaic when needed. I am loving the service especially tracking my fantasy players. They allow up to 30 players to track. MLB.TV is ideal for fantasy players and the 700k picture quality is pretty good. So far I am happy with the service and not a bad deal at $120 imo.

I signed up for one month as well on the premium but I still got freezes. It might be the pc though.
jenny
So, you guys are viewing full screen through Wm or Flip4Mac, right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Mosaic doesn't allow for full screen? No?

Mosaic was running a slow feed for me despite my premium membership, but I'm not watching live games right now.
NJSoxFan
I am on a PC jenny, not mac

Still, seems to be loads of issues with watching a single game through Mosaic ... I can watch 6 at once, yet can not see 1 at a time - awesome.

Anyone knows if an ID and password for MLB.TV can be shared? I mean, can two people with the same ID watch games at the same time?

It's not supposed to work but I know it did last year (have not tried it yet this year).

I like the mosiac fiture as others have said. I had to input my address, though so I'm hoping I can still use the proxy trick to watch those Saturday games. It would not let me watch local games through a proxy on Monday so that pissed me off. I like how you can actually adjust the screen to any size rather than just being stuck with the regular, double, and full screen on the regular mlb.tv. The mosaic allows you to stretch or shrink to whatever size and go full screen. The 700K is better and I had no freezing problems. Nice to see they are going back to showing the local ads rather than the stupid mlb.tv blue screen which would sometimes switch back a little late and I'd miss a pitch or two. So far, I like it.

Jenny, I'm running an Intel iMac with Flip4Mac. I couldn't get a true fullscreen with either Mosaic or just the single game view. In fact, I couldn't make any size change on the single game viewer. There is a flag to allow Flip4Mac to run in Quick Time which is what I chose. I get a larger picture that way.

It does, a buddy is sharing his account with me for the second straight year.

OK, so if anyone is interested, I can send you around $45 via Paypal. My main problem is that I dont have a ****** credit card, so I cant get my account with MLB.TV.
Just PM' me.

Forgive the stupid question but.... Can you get sox games? When I read the promo material it indicated that you could get out of market games and so I assumed that the local market (red sox) games would be blocked. Are ther blackouts or regular season games?

If you live in any DMA designated to the Red Sox (basically all of New England, outside of the NYC suburbs) then you cannot get the Sox games, unless you feel like breaking the rules and finding yourself a proxy server.

On March 12, I got an e-mail telling me my 2006 subscription was renewing for $99.95. It went on the wrong card, but whatever.

On March 27 (just checked that e-mail account now, I never use it), I got an e-mail saying it was renewing for $120.

My credit card has only been charged $99.95. Is the second e-mail some kind of mistake? The first e-mail mentions the discount for automatic renewal, the second one doesn't. It just says it's confirming my renewal and charging me $120. No such charge has appeared, and if it does, I'm going to fly off the handle, but has anyone else gotten double e-mails that don't quite match but seem like they're the same thing?

So, now that cable is picking up MLB EI, what are my odds of getting some sort of refund/credit from MLBTV by cancelling?

Thanks for the response. Do you suppose that if I listed a California address instead of the my Massachusetts one it might work or is the address of the credit card the deciding factor.

for those like me that can't get mlb.tv at the time.

go to myp2p.eu

has the programs you need to find sox games and everyday lists the channels across the internet it is on.

I signed up for one month as well on the premium but I still got freezes. It might be the pc though.

The freezes occur when something between the sender and the videoplayer isn't able to handle all data. So, freezes are more likely to occur when there's 700kbps to be handled instead of 400kbps.

I have a 4Mbps connection, so I should be able to watch 10 400kbps streams at once, but still, on my desktop computer I get frequent freezes watching just one game. On my laptop (which has less memory and a slower processor) I hardly get freezes at all.

I can go full screen in Quicktime, but no such luck with Mosaic. Mosaic is really slow for me as well, but i just bought a new computer (not yet arrived), and maybe the faster processer and increased RAM will help.

If things don't get faster by Monday when the EI promo ends, I'm going to try to cancel MLBTV and get EI. (I doubt it will work, but i'll make the phone calls.) I'm hoping M:BTV will improve for me...

The signal quality has been excellent lately, but whoever controls when their little pacman ripoff "commercial break in progress screen" comes on and off needs to have his or her private parts burned with a hot poker. I missed at least 3 entire ABs (including a HR by Ortiz) last night because they were so slow to get back to the action.

Agreed, I hate it when they do that. A couple years ago they just aired the commercials and never cut away so you were sure to catch everything. I don't know why they can't do that.

hmmm... wanted to watch the game right now, but somehow it says I need to upgrade to a premium subscription wherever I click on.

If I check the links, there "shouldn't" be anything wrong. ....fid:'mlb_lg400',v:'2'})) is the simple MLB.TV stream. But I still can't view the game.

Any ideas?

I can't remember the name of the orioles announcer (Al Trautwig?) but he kept talking about how slow JD Drew is, and kept alluding to it throughout the game. WTF is this guy talking about? JD Drew isn't "slow". Even after bouts of Patellar tendinitis he's still one of the three or four fastest guys in the Sox lineup...I know that's not saying much, but he is not slow. He's not Lowell slow. Seeing Lowell run the basepaths live is something less than spectacular.

How long/many times did you have to log out/log back in?? All of a sudden when I go to watch a single feed, it asks me to pay again ... I can get Mosaic to work, but I dont want to watch 6 games at once. Just the Sox. This thing is a piece of shit, and incredibly frustrating.

Nevermind ... Looks like they did in fact credit me the full 119.95, and I can still use Mosaic to see games .... so I guess I won't complain.

My family has been subscribing to MLB.tv for 3 years now and this has been by far the worst. First off they gave us no email in advance telling us that we clicked the 'auto-resubscribe' choice last year. So we subscribe to the regular service and it works for about a week, when we get an email saying the credit card we used last year is no longer valid (which is true) so they cancelled our service. However, they cancelled both our subscriptions, including the one we just signed up and paid for with a valid credit card number. We would get the same message that mp33 received. So after calling and emailing on numerous occasions and not getting through to anyone once, we just re-ordered the premium service. So now we have technically paid three times and who knows what is going to come out of this. We're hoping to finally get through to someone when the bill comes and get all this for free. It's been a bunch of bulls**t.

Hopefully you get better news than I got from Charter. I got the "Charter will not be able to offer Extra Innings in 2007" letter in the mail two days ago, so it's MLB.TV or bust for me this season. thumbdown.gif

MLB.tv is now blacking out the Saturday afternoon games(before the Fox games). They aren't part of EI on Directv so next Saturdays game against Baltimore will be the first game this year not available to Sox fans outside of N.E.

Not anymore. You can only get them when the Red Sox are on FOX or ESPN.

I kind of liked seeing commercials from all over the country (local commercials are cheesy EVERYWHERE), but the best was when they'd cut to the broadcast booth and you could hear Don and Remy bullsh*tting. Classic stuff. Someone told them that people could hear them online and immediately Remy starts hawking his crap from his website. "See, we have this new thing called a onesie, and it's fantastic. Watch out for the shipping, though. That's where we get you is on the shipping."

I agree, though. Missing entire AB's is entirely unacceptable. Other than that the 700K upgrade is great and absolutely worth the extra $, I love it.

Today may be the first day of the season that many of us are going to get the Sox game blacked out on MLB.TV.

(Thanks, FOX).

Does anyone know any, uh, numbers to help?
Walking Disaster
Does MLB blackout the local games based on your credit card billing address or does it have to do with IP address? I'm going to be working second shift all summer but I have access to a PC. I'd like to be able to catch the sox games but I don't want to waste the money on a subscription if it wont work based on the location of my ip address. I'm in the Boston DMA.
Seabass
It's based on the IP address, but there are ways around that.

Has MLB.TV dropped the Condensed Game feature? I found it very useful last season, I think it was pretty cool when you missed a game and didnt have time to watch it.
Please tell me Im wrong.

Any new reviews for this year as far as the picture freezing goes? I heard they tried increasing the stream to fix that issue.
